      Hi SketchUppers,

I would like to be able to model a wood fired oven as shown in the attached pictures. Although I consider myself proficient in using standard SU tools for buildings, modelling this sort of shape in SU is completely new to me.
I've seen some pretty amazing shapes created by forum members in the past, so I assume it is possible in SU?
Please can you suggest the best approach and plug-ins to get. I will be very grateful for any advice you may be able to share.

      Thank you, Domus

        Hello Domus,

Of course the subdivide and smooth plugin would be your weapon of choice. If you don't want to buy it right away (btw: for sure you will not regret having this pluin) it is quite easy to draw the oven from an ellipse. Push-pull and duplicate upwards step by step while scaling the top to resize in every step. after after delete the surfaces inside and soften to finish.
(hope this is understandable, if not take a search for car modelling videos or alike)

        cheers
        alex

          Hi Alex,
Thanks for your advice. I will give your 2 methods a try and see what works best for me.
I have also found a great ruby by fredo6 called curviloft, allowing me to loft surfaces, which is another technique for me to try out.

          Cheers, Domus
