Hello everyone. For my latest project I need to be able to draw iterations of the Fourier series for square, triangle, and sawtooth waveforms. I've tried using the graphing plugin which can be had here: http://sketchuptips.blogspot.com/2006/10/sketchup-graphing-plugin.html
but the waves are not scalable, and the number of segments is not adjustable. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

      Thanks!

I'm not sure I understand your problem, that plugin creates lines in a group that can be edited in any normal way.

It's great for the most part, I can scale it any way i want using the basic features of sketchup, but I have no way to increase the resolution of the drawing. (like for instance, the circle tool...you can chose the number of sides, and the more you choose, the more accurate it is, but if you choose only three, it becomes a triangle tool.)

            Hi folks.

Even if a figure drawn with the Circle Tool and the Polygon Tool have a similar appearance if the number of side is set identically, their smoothed setting at endpoints is different. If you pull up a circle, all the edges that are generated by endpoints will be smoothed. With a polygon, they will not.

Ass for your question, maybe you will need to modify the plugin.

            Just ideas.

I would love to be able to modify the plugin, but I wouldn't have a clue where to start since I have no programming experience whatsoever. Thanks for the idea tho πŸ˜„

As I posted already I guess I should reply, perhaps it's just me but I don't understand what you want to do.

Could you explain in simple words or images what you want to achieve. I may be showing my ignorance, but that's never bothered me.

I think he wants the geometry to be parametric, or editable.

The script is just a quickie I made. It has the option to set the number of segments when first run, but no way to adjust once drawn. You can scale the curve in both dimensions and it remains a sine curve. I figure it's good enough because I didn't imagine most people use a lot of sine curves, and it is free.

                  Hi

@ Box, All I want to do is to be able to set the number of segments that the wave will be drawn with.
@ Jim, you said that there was an option for this, but when I run the plugin all I see is a space for the equation. Am I missing something?
By the way, thanks for making this plugin. I had a hard time finding something free that would do what I wanted, and this pretty much fits the bill.

Oh, we are talking about different plugins. I was talking about my super simple sine curve plugin.

I'm not sure what I'm going to do with the equation grapher. Many of my plugins need re-worked and I'm not finding the time or motivation to do it. It might be best to for me to take a few of them down, I don't know.

                      Hi
