Hey guys I am desperate for very high resolution/quality satellite maps, I use Placemaker and I also use Nearmap but the resolution is not that great, I have tried using AI to upscale but that too does not really solve my issues. Is there another solution?

Hey Mike, I'm sure you figured this out already, but when you first create the attribute type a number with the inch mark like 0" or 0' in the value box and hit enter. This will set the unit for that attribute to inches. This only works for the first time a value is entered. After that first initial value, you will need to use the attribute info dialog to make changes. In addition, you can use 0 to set it to text (not "Default: Text") and 0cm to set it to centimeters. If anyone knows a shortcut for setting the unit to Decimal Number, I would love to hear it!

Open the group for editing first. Remember, you can put mustard on the sandwich until you open the wrapper.

Dave, Thanks so much for your clarifications and your PM explaining things. You answered a number of questions about process and workflow. Putting all the geometry on the default layer (thank you TIG) solved my immediate problem. I'll work on the other issues in the next model. Best, Jim

I know this probably wouldn't work in most situations, but it did in this simple one. Your method of enlarging the area around the image will probably be what I use in the future.

Wiped the Registry for SU8 and restarted, and now the menu's back, but not sure why it went away in the first place.

mitcorb, thanks for the heads up. I had to change my location in Windows, in that way I got to disply Sketchup in Italian... It is a bit strange tho I have to go through all this to have it in my original language... oh well, at least I know I can switch to and from English at will goodnight everybody!

Applying the material is probably the easiest for your application. I did this for the top sheet on the desk in this image. It's not much of a bend in this case but I drew the top sheet so it's corner is lifted up and applied the magazine page as a material. [image: 4442828755_c0c400dd5b.jpg]

I don't think Joe has the pro version so no LayOut. Of course there are other applications that could be used including something common like MS Word. If this is the sort of work someone is doing frequently especially as a business and where one needs to show the output to clients, I think it would make sense to just spring for the pro version and get LayOut and get on with it.

My guess is it has something to do with what SU calls an "arbitrary axis rule" (pulled slightly out of context from the API). Followme works nicely on a sphere. Try drawing a helical path over a sphere, then follow me along it. The face will align itself nicely onto the sphere.

Thanks Guys. I was under the impression that the difference in the layer toolbar between the MAC and WIN had been rectified. Since my friend is starting new with SU, he won't know what is missing and will be able just have to learn the other method of assigning objects to layers.

Blender should be able to read collada (SU exports into dae or kmz). You may have better results with older SU versions (SU 6 and 7 Pro are still available for download - after the 8 hours of evaluation period expires, they revert back to the functionalities of the fre version but these export options are there for the free, too).

@hellnbak said: Is there any way to make sure the final version is the one at the beginning? Just nitpicking I suppose... No, not nitpicking at all. We indeed encourage plugin authors to update the first post of the topic instead of posting new versions somewhere on page 6 of a discussion (we cannot really make this a "requirement" however; everyone is free to post his stuff as he/she wishes). IMO this has become a general practice however (if you cannot even make it 100% sure they are following it). When you see the "updated" and similar words in the first topic title, it should be that way however (if the author took the time to edit the first post, he probably did so with the attachment, too).

I renders fine for me (however you cannot spin around as there are face-me components in it and the current version does not support them): [image: lZZ3_tree.png] Do you get the clip loaded for the image file? [image: CWWs_file.png] [image: HTjc_clip.png]
