BlenderGIS can get you pretty good images.. you do need an API key to get set up but it's all free and you can even generate 3d geometry based on the elevations in the satellite images.. it tiles in blender so you the more you zoom the better the image quality to a point.

Hey Mike, I'm sure you figured this out already, but when you first create the attribute type a number with the inch mark like 0" or 0' in the value box and hit enter. This will set the unit for that attribute to inches. This only works for the first time a value is entered. After that first initial value, you will need to use the attribute info dialog to make changes. In addition, you can use 0 to set it to text (not "Default: Text") and 0cm to set it to centimeters. If anyone knows a shortcut for setting the unit to Decimal Number, I would love to hear it!

Hey, MartinK, I have your exact laptop and love it! I bought it when it first came out (at a significantly higher price), and the young salesdudes were drooling at the mouth as they watched me walk out with what they lusted after. Little did they know that I needed a "gaming computer" to keep up with all my graphic needs! Although I'm in love with it, it wouldn't be fair to omit telling you that sometimes it does crash, but then, I have no idea who or what is to blame for that. Now a couple of keys are also sticking a bit -- not staying down and activated, more like they're harder to press. I'm sure I can find a way to remove the keyboard and clean everything out to alleviate that issue. Other than that, no problems whatever! Love having all this computing power, large screen, etc. Awesome choice! Good luck with yours! Gigi

Short answer, I think, yes there is. I want to say it is Smart Drop. First look in Plugins Index above- red button at top of page. Then, if not there, perhaps Ruby Library Depot. You may also be able to do this with Drape? Stamp? in the Sandbox Tools?

Thanks for that - yes it is really annoying. I'll try your spotlight search to get rid of the SKBs. Cheers Sam

The Logo Contest might be kinda fun tho. Since people would know this isn't actually going to be used by Google they could go nuts with it.

You could create it as a straight run of blocks with the gaps and make the whole run a component. Then use Shape Bender to bend it to the curve.

@broomstick said: I usually get the same result activating the Bucket (B) and then alt-click on the correct texture. That way when you click with the bucket on other faces, it will apply the material with the collected UVs Indeed, but the problem is how to set the "correct texture" because if you sample material from a face where was not "mapped" in some way, it will just sample the material. "Positioning" the texture does exactly that: assign UV on that textured face, so when sampling, you get the UV's too.

My favorite is Stray Lines: http://www.smustard.com/script/StrayLines It labels all lines that do not meet up with another line, and that is what is going on in your model. Download that, then run it and it will show each little broken spot. You might have to zoom in very very close to see the problem. But once you see the line that is not meeting up, just connect it and it should work. Though if it is too small, SU will not let you draw it. You'll have to figure out a way around that if it comes up.

Did It!!! Attached is my near perfect Carbon Fiber material. Not quite the weave I wanted, but good enough. I may do another weave pattern later on. I found a JPG of this large format constant contrast weave pattern that was buggered with a watermark and with repetitive line artifacts strewn throughout. Now THAT sort of stuff I know how to edit out, but not the contrast deviations (yet). The color was also off, easy to fix. In SU I again adjusted the overall color balance, because SU does not seem to follow the Gamma setup of my Photoline32, and the texture map came in way too dark. Free to all to use! Thanks again guys... Free to use if anyone wants it.

Yes I know that and use it a lot. I think it can be useful to get this intersection separate to create new geometry to connect two volumes. I used to redraw this intersection by hand to get this, if I'd know!

Well, I think I might have solved the problem. Not completely there yet, but I think I'll get it there eventually. A little convoluted, but what the hey, it's the end result that counts, right? [image: MjUV_3.jpg] [image: Lb9n_4.jpg]

Going forward, I think it would be a good idea to make sure you create a group or component of the geometry you've drawn before moving on to the next part of the model. This way you can prevent the problem you've experienced from even happening. Be systematic in your drawing. If you are drawing a trailer and then the ramp, make sure the trailer is a group or component before you start drawing the ramp. Or if you are drawing the individual parts of the ramp, draw one part and make it a group or component before moving on to the next part. Use components at least for parts that will have multiple instances or that you want to save for reuse.

You need to 'extract' the profiles/rails into a separate group and then do the EEbyRails. Get the same number of segments in the two rails and profiles. Split the top rail with the straight edge, then divide it so its segmentation mimics the curved edge rail.[image: xhWk_Capture.PNG]

I had the same problem and I solved by turning the aero off on windows 7. For some reason, weird things happen when you turn on all the windows UI fluffy stuff.

If you run it with the Ruby Console open there might be error messages ??? Here are the main causes of issues with this tool. The 'red' line and the arc/curve cannot touch any other geometry, or each other. You must have the Smustard.com "progressbar.rb" installed. The object to be bent cannot be very tiny [OR gigantically large] - Sketchup/OpenGL have issues creating very small facets [<~1mm or 0.001sq"]. BUT you can scale the object x10 or x100, bend it, then scale back to suit - you will find that very small [or large] geometry can exist BUT it cannot be created. So if the object you are hoping to bend is the size of your fingernail [or a town] then you must look to scaling to save your ass... Post in the main thread to get better help
