    Hi,

I just installed shape bender v055 (su v8) I get an error message, please have a single group or component to bend selected before activating the script.

    From the Ruby console:
Error: #<NoMethodError: undefined method empty?' for nil:NilClass> C:/PROGRA~1/Google/GOOGLE~2/Plugins/clf_shape_bender/clf_shape_bender.rb:739:in draw'
    C:/PROGRA~1/Google/GOOGLE~2/Plugins/clf_shape_bender/clf_shape_bender.rb:67:in messagebox' C:/PROGRA~1/Google/GOOGLE~2/Plugins/clf_shape_bender/clf_shape_bender.rb:67:in activate'
    C:/PROGRA~1/Google/GOOGLE~2/Plugins/clf_shape_bender/clf_shape_bender.rb:1017:in `select_tool'
    C:/PROGRA~1/Google/GOOGLE~2/Plugins/clf_shape_bender/clf_shape_bender.rb:1017

Sorry if this is a bone head problem, I'm new to sketchup. Thanks

Did you select a group or component before activating the plugin? The thing you want to bend muse be a group or component and it must be selected prior to starting Shape Bender.

I figured it out. I was just selecting the object I made. I didn't realize you need to make it a group or component. I just assumed it was already. slick tool

I'm getting the same error "Please have a single group or Component to bend selected before activating the script."

I'm getting this after doing the following:

          1. Creating a tube (circle and then elongating it)
          2. Making the tube a group
          3. Drawing a straight line along the bottom of the tube
          4. Making my arc line in the same (red) plane.
          5. Selecting the group
          6. Starting the script
          7. Selecting my straight line ("start" and "end" appear)
          8. Selecting my arc line ("start" and "end" appear)

At that point - according to what I saw in the video - I was expecting the model to make the tube follow the path of the arc line. This doesn't happen. When I click "Enter" nothing happens.

Google Sketchup Version: Google Sketchup 8
Computer OS: Microsoft Windows XP Pro (2002) Service Pack 3

Am I doing something wrong or is there another issue here?

Please advise. Your help is greatly appreciated!

You're more likely to get a reply from the author if you post in the thread for that particular plugin.

If you run it with the Ruby Console open there might be error messages ???

Here are the main causes of issues with this tool.

              1. The 'red' line and the arc/curve cannot touch any other geometry, or each other.
              2. You must have the Smustard.com "progressbar.rb" installed.
              3. The object to be bent cannot be very tiny [OR gigantically large] - Sketchup/OpenGL have issues creating very small facets [<~1mm or 0.001sq"]. BUT you can scale the object x10 or x100, bend it, then scale back to suit - you will find that very small [or large] geometry can exist BUT it cannot be created. So if the object you are hoping to bend is the size of your fingernail [or a town] then you must look to scaling to save your ass...

Post in the main thread to get better help 😒
