@Rich-O-Brien Thanks Rich. Now I know that I can share the link with Fredo6 on the Animator thread so he can download the file and look at it (to hopefully identify the problem I have been having trying to generate a video). You might also try generating an Animator video and see what results you get.

Hey guys I am desperate for very high resolution/quality satellite maps, I use Placemaker and I also use Nearmap but the resolution is not that great, I have tried using AI to upscale but that too does not really solve my issues. Is there another solution?

Hey Mike, I'm sure you figured this out already, but when you first create the attribute type a number with the inch mark like 0" or 0' in the value box and hit enter. This will set the unit for that attribute to inches. This only works for the first time a value is entered. After that first initial value, you will need to use the attribute info dialog to make changes. In addition, you can use 0 to set it to text (not "Default: Text") and 0cm to set it to centimeters. If anyone knows a shortcut for setting the unit to Decimal Number, I would love to hear it!

Hi Jgb, hi folks. If you have SU pro, you may try File menu --> Generate report. Just ideas.

Once you have opened the files in a newer version run Model Info > Fix Problems... and Purge Unused if appropriate... Then save as the new version... There's no simple way of automating this...

Hi, it could be a login-issue. Try the following: http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/sketchup/thread?tid=63461ea8cc877b77&hl=en [url=http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/sketchup/thread?tid=6180bf382d1c7498&hl=en:2f00j1mf]http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/sketchup/thread?tid=6180bf382d1c7498&hl=en#fid_6180bf382d1c749800048918c3bb94c9[/url:2f00j1mf]

Hi Danny, You can install the pro version and after 8 hs of use, it will simply revert to the free functionality. http://sketchup.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=60107 (I'd suggest this rather than downloading something from some obscure site)

I totally agree with ledisnomad on his comparison between packages. I've found revit a very steep learning curve beyond the play about stage. The main trouble is that everything has to be a family/component/block, & the editor is not the most user friendly. Once you have a kit of parts, you are laughing, as you can create new models in no time. I think the cross breeding with AutoCAD will pay dividends in ease of use, but it has a way to go yet. Perhaps Vectorworks is another package to look at...

Hi Gaieus I've downloaded iRender and tried it with some models. The process is simple enough and it handles the section cuts but it takes forever to load the model in the renderer (65mb). I am way to impatient to see the first results.... For now I'll stick to native SU and Piranesi. Thanks for the help Andre

You never said you wanted the DWGs importing so each went into a separate SKP file ! To do that you need a bit more code - start with an almost empty SKP add a small bit of geometry [dot at origin?] to force a new component on import; run the adjusted code, it gets the imported file name and imports it, saves the SKP with that name.skpe [into a given folder], then it erases the DWG-component and purges the SKP's definitions, and adds the next DWG and repeats saving as that name etc... until all DWGs should have been saved into separate SKPs...

@unknownuser said: Very cool. It's very interesting how you can change the actual material beyond just the color. Do you guys find that you use this very often? Although it seems like a very powerful tool for certain circumstances I can't imagine using it for most renderings. -Brodie I have used it twice already, for a furniture catalogue, I needed to show the different variations of materials/finishes of a particular set and instead of doing four renders I just did the one and changed mats afterwards, came in handy and definitely something I will use in future as the need arises.
