BlenderGIS can get you pretty good images.. you do need an API key to get set up but it's all free and you can even generate 3d geometry based on the elevations in the satellite images.. it tiles in blender so you the more you zoom the better the image quality to a point.

Hey Mike, I'm sure you figured this out already, but when you first create the attribute type a number with the inch mark like 0" or 0' in the value box and hit enter. This will set the unit for that attribute to inches. This only works for the first time a value is entered. After that first initial value, you will need to use the attribute info dialog to make changes. In addition, you can use 0 to set it to text (not "Default: Text") and 0cm to set it to centimeters. If anyone knows a shortcut for setting the unit to Decimal Number, I would love to hear it!

Thanks for the advice decided to stick with many components and groups as sometimes will also use max to model and alter parts of building. Found that using a script to clear missing bitmaps and unused materials helps with the multi subobject materials problem. May in future try using colour by layer in Sketchup and doing my texturing in max.

Also look for my TextureTools which allow you to Rotate/Scale/Position any texture on a selected face either by typing in an amount OR by using the arrow keys... Search the Plugins Index...

It looks to me as if you've just moved the axes. The thing to do is right click on the origin and choose Reset. You might find it easiest to hide the model or at least the part of it in the vicinity of the origin before doing that. You don't need to delete anything though. Unhide with Edit>Unhide.

Not bad, I'll have to keep that one in the 'ol toolbox. Would be good for something a little simpler than what I'm doing. Doesn't take transitional areas (road to ditch to field) into consideration and the edges aren't great. [image: bHpa_Capture.PNG]

From your specs and model size you should not have memory issue unless you are using grahics vs what you noted with large memory or maybe dual monitors. Their memory gets subtraced from what you can use because w7 till maintains compatibility with x32 that cannot use extended memory address space above the 4gb limit Chack the two items of page two on this link especially the one about unchecking max memory use http://www.sevenforums.com/hardware-devices/5816-windows-7-64-bit-ram-issue-2.html

Yeah it's an on and off problem. If I go and check uncheck stuff in preferences it works a while than it appears again.

as it turns out the one on the right did work out much better in this instance and after flipping just a few faces it seemed almost perfect. [image: jiTe_Capture1.PNG] [image: 4JfM_Capture2.PNG] the one on the left however had some major issues! go figure. [image: JCWh_Capture3.PNG]

One partial solution to this problem that I use is to explode everything, groups components, the lot. In most cases it will be beyond peoples ability or patience to extract elements from the model. Baz

I posted an AHK script to resize the SU drawing area (minus toolbars, tabbars,) rather than window size. http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?f=180&t=30720 Wreaks havoc on your Toolbars...

Hey, MartinK, I have your exact laptop and love it! I bought it when it first came out (at a significantly higher price), and the young salesdudes were drooling at the mouth as they watched me walk out with what they lusted after. Little did they know that I needed a "gaming computer" to keep up with all my graphic needs! Although I'm in love with it, it wouldn't be fair to omit telling you that sometimes it does crash, but then, I have no idea who or what is to blame for that. Now a couple of keys are also sticking a bit -- not staying down and activated, more like they're harder to press. I'm sure I can find a way to remove the keyboard and clean everything out to alleviate that issue. Other than that, no problems whatever! Love having all this computing power, large screen, etc. Awesome choice! Good luck with yours! Gigi

Short answer, I think, yes there is. I want to say it is Smart Drop. First look in Plugins Index above- red button at top of page. Then, if not there, perhaps Ruby Library Depot. You may also be able to do this with Drape? Stamp? in the Sandbox Tools?

Thanks for that - yes it is really annoying. I'll try your spotlight search to get rid of the SKBs. Cheers Sam
