BlenderGIS can get you pretty good images.. you do need an API key to get set up but it's all free and you can even generate 3d geometry based on the elevations in the satellite images.. it tiles in blender so you the more you zoom the better the image quality to a point.

Hey Mike, I'm sure you figured this out already, but when you first create the attribute type a number with the inch mark like 0" or 0' in the value box and hit enter. This will set the unit for that attribute to inches. This only works for the first time a value is entered. After that first initial value, you will need to use the attribute info dialog to make changes. In addition, you can use 0 to set it to text (not "Default: Text") and 0cm to set it to centimeters. If anyone knows a shortcut for setting the unit to Decimal Number, I would love to hear it!

Thanks Tig - I think the file types changed during a bugsplat and I re-set them and it seems to be (mostly) working.

Frank, I'm glad you got things to work. I always like to suggest native tools and if they work, great. If you need additional stuff, plugins Like Chris Fullmer's are great. As to your question, the standard views are standard for the default orientation of the axes. They don't get changed when you change the model axes The reason they work for you when you have a component open for editing is because the orientation is then based upon the component axes. The orientation of the component axes is driven by the alignment of the component to the model axes. So, when you have the component open for editing, the standard front view would have you looking at the model with the solid green axis running away from you.

It's like that for awhile. Since launch, with only a few heads added.

Based on your sample, I would say the best way to do this is just use SketchUp and Photoshop Extended. You can export your animation with the applied style you have right our of SketchUp as MP4 movie format. You could also export as a series of images or as a and open the movie file in Photoshop Extended and edit it there. Another option is to export the animation as a series of layers and overlay them in Photoshop. PS Extended allows you to do this and you can achieve some incredible results along with filters and adjustment layers.

Maybe look at Rich's suggestion. It could turn out to be a cost effective solution.

[image: OTLV_aqua.jpg] On the left is your model as you sent it. On the right is what happens after exploding the image so it is a material painted on the face. This is the same thing Box is talking about. It looks like you are being inconsistent about how you are bringing in the images you are using. Or trying to use. BTW, this was just a quick render in Kerkythea.

Wow, this is great! Two more tools to use in the hunt, both of which worked to find the internal face, and an excellent explanation. Big thanks to all. kupono

I have heard of diffusion but never a slice of tomato diffusing though a layer of cling wrap. Well, at least and still being a slice of tomato on the other side.

@bernardobaldissera said: @unknownuser said: which mouse do you have and did you install any accompanying software with it? I have a Microsoft Mouse 3500. It has a software, Microsoft Intellipoint, but I can only set up generic commands to the central button. Even if I configure command + control as the function of the central button, it doesn't work out. hmm.. yeah, i don't know about that mouse or the software.. sorry pbacot's suggestion of using SteerMouse is probably the way to go if you want to have mouse software other than OSX (which i what i use-- the regular osx mouse preferences.. i don't use any additional software with the logitech mice i use-- but then again, i don't use the middle button for orbiting.. i always use a 5+ button mouse then a thumb button for orbiting in sketchup)

@dave r said: Do you want to leave the outer component basically as it is? Open that component, select the inner component and hit Edit>Cut (or the appropriate keyboard shortcut), close the component by clicking out in space or via the right click menu. Hit Edit>Paste in place. The component you cut from the bigger component will now be outside the big component but in the same location. You could also do this via Outliner by clicking and dragging the component name from inside the bigger component to outside of it. Thank you! Very helpful.
