      Hello!
I work on a MacBook and recently I bought a three button mouse. However, it didn't work like Windows. I mean, holding the central button to orbit or pan. This doesn't work. Is it possible to fix it?
      Thank you!

I have a Microsoft Mouse 3500. It has a software, Microsoft Intellipoint, but I can only set up generic commands to the central button. Even if I configure command + control as the function of the central button, it doesn't work out.

Try SteerMouse software. It works on many mice and gives more customization. I use with Razer mice because I didn't like the Razer software. I also used another one USB Overdrive but I don't know the status of that these days.

I use an inexpensive Logitech wireless mouse. I plugged in the receiver, installed a battery and turned on the mouse. It worked perfectly from the beginning. I didn't have to install any mouse software.

What kind of mouse did you get?

I have a Microsoft Mouse 3000, which I assume is similar to your 3500. In the Intellipoint software, I made these button assignments:

                • Left Button = Click
                • Right Button = Secondary Click
                • Wheel Button = Handled by Mac OS
                • Upper Button = Back (I don't use the upper button in SU, so this setting doesn't matter to me)

I also checked the Enable vertical scrolling button on the Scrolling tab.

With those settings my mouse works the same in SU as it does on Windows. The only issue is that Intellipoint does not start automatically after the Mac boots; I have to open the settings to get it going. There's no doubt a way to make it start on boot, but I'm too lazy to look it up.

If I let ''handled by mac'' what happens is, when I press the wheel button, it actives the dashboard 😠

hmm.. yeah, i don't know about that mouse or the software.. sorry

pbacot's suggestion of using SteerMouse is probably the way to go if you want to have mouse software other than OSX (which i what i use-- the regular osx mouse preferences.. i don't use any additional software with the logitech mice i use-- but then again, i don't use the middle button for orbiting.. i always use a 5+ button mouse then a thumb button for orbiting in sketchup)
