Last update sketch up_huge problems with opening files
-
Hello there,
I've installed Sketchup pro both on my Macbook pro and iMac.
Yesterday I've updated Sketchup on the Macbook pro and I've been working on a file of 50 Mb.
Today I've updated Sketchup also on the iMac. I tried to open the same file on the iMac, but it seems that it will take forever. I'm still waiting after 15 minutes.... it doesn't make sense. The file crashed also a couple of times during the "opening".
Please can anybody give me an idea of the reason why this is happening? I need to solve it urgently!
Thank you,
I.

welcome Amsic
if you haven't already tried this:
open SU with a double click, so you get a new empty model
turn any extra windows off, using Main Menu >> 'Window' >> 'Hide Dialogs'
then, Main Menu >> 'File' >> 'Close'
Main Menu >> 'File' >> 'Open Resent' or 'Open...' if it's not in the list
if it still won't open, how big is the file?

Hello John,
I followed your instructions, but still the file doesn't open. The opening process takes 10 or 20 minutes and then it crashes. The file is 50 Mb, on my laptop it opens in less than a minute.
other ideas?

it worked!!!!!
thank you so much!!! -
I can't believe it. As I started rendering, the software crashed.
Now, even doing your trick, it doesn't work. It crashes each time I try to open it.
Help!!!

The problem is VRay.
The latest version of VRay is not compatible with the latest version of SketchUp.
That's why the software crashes. It will take from 1 to 3 weeks before a compatible version of VRay will be released. This is absurd.
Why releasing an update of Sketchup if not compatible with VRay? At least, the risk of problems after the update should be mentioned.Considering that I have SketchUp both on my laptop and IMac, and considering that I want to keep the latest version of sketch up on my laptop, is it possible to install Sketchup 8 on my iMac with the same licence?
Is it possible to have one licence and install two different versions (SU 2013 and SU of SketchUp on two different machines without creating conflicts?
Thank you.
I.
