Hey guys I am desperate for very high resolution/quality satellite maps, I use Placemaker and I also use Nearmap but the resolution is not that great, I have tried using AI to upscale but that too does not really solve my issues. Is there another solution?

Hey Mike, I'm sure you figured this out already, but when you first create the attribute type a number with the inch mark like 0" or 0' in the value box and hit enter. This will set the unit for that attribute to inches. This only works for the first time a value is entered. After that first initial value, you will need to use the attribute info dialog to make changes. In addition, you can use 0 to set it to text (not "Default: Text") and 0cm to set it to centimeters. If anyone knows a shortcut for setting the unit to Decimal Number, I would love to hear it!

@tig said: But didn't he suggest that the latest driver might be the culprit. if I understood Ulis @atelierpaar said: I updated several times - but it doesn`t make any difference. correct, the error message was already shown before the driver was updated. If not he may of course try rolling back to a working version. Norbert

I don't know of a checklist per se but it shouldn't be too difficult. where are your materials and components located for SU8? Are they under SketchUp's Materials and Components folders? If so, you can either link to those local collections where they reside or copy them to SU2013's folders or even put them somewhere else. Then just use Open or Create a Local Collection from the Details menus followed by Add to Favorites from the same menus. The only content you should avoid copying directly would be plugins. Download fresh copies of the plugins you use. Regarding your component issue, as I wrote before, the materials used on the component are part of the component's SKP file and do not depend upon the original texture file's library location. If it did, it would be similar to Microsoft Word which depends upon the viewer having the same font as the author or the document for proper viewing. SketchUp files are more like PDFs in that fonts are embedded in PDF files.

With the sort of structure you want to build you are better off spending a few minutes making suitable components. Here I have made a 3 component joint with rotation points on a separate layer. Using this joint you can very quickly throw together a very complex structure. You start with one joint component and then make unique as needed to get the various arrays you want. You can change angle and rotation and redraw the faces of the components to create whatever shape pipe you want. This is simply a way of having components correctly aligned to each other. As with anything of this type, if you consider how it would be constructed in real life you usually find that using a selection of parts is the best way to go. Also by using this type of joint, you give yourself a framework from which to use curviloft or Extrusion tools etc to make nice connector fittings. Of course the other very simple way of doing it would be to construct it from a bunch of lines then use Pipe along path, or profile builder or some such to finish the construction for you. TIG and mitcorb thanks for your reply. Well I didn't find this to be a major problem. However, I am trying to track down why my Ver 2013 seems to crash more that others, so I have been on a hunt to find the reason. Note that was happening on my old XP laptop. Ver 2013 on my laptop, with XP was almost unusable. However, last week the company gave me a new computer with Win 7 pro. So I just loaded Ver 2013 and re-installed all plugins which I wish to use. So far so good. Thanks TIG for the info about the plugin "simple_loft_loader". And the above line leads me to another question, just how many plugins are duplicated, such that there are excellent, good and mediocre plugins that have the same objectives? Ok, going to stop worrying about the extra save. Got work. Again thanks for the input. Ken

Thank you numerbis By turning on the hidden geometry I can get to the texture option and it is not projected. Unless I turn on hidden geometry to get to a single face I do not have the option for right-click texture thank you

Thanks for taking the time to do this. I pretty much had the first section sorted but have never used FFD. That seems like a huge help for the last contour Cheers again!

And if you want use some useful Plugins (after mastered the classic tools) try the Didier Bur Projection where the last icon can extrude a line(s)! Of course you can move draw them in any 3D angle direction! So any junction will be a game's boy! If you move all edges of a plane surface(s) that is an "open Tube" Push Pull Multiple with a direction! [image: mh7a_junction.jpg]

@seasdes said: Thanks all for your replies. However, it does not seem to make a difference whichever direction that I draw an object. It makes a big difference in which way you draw your rectangle, looking north, south, east or west or down. You may have some help with something I made a few years ago: http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/details?mid=509c2a6868ab3855b2dd3120ca5e0662 (Circles may act different!) But it's better to forget about the whole thing and only remember and concentrate on what is important in good modeling. Ultimately all white (front) faces face outward.

@Catnkar12 when in finder use command j or go to View in the title bar and choose Show View Options. If you don't want it to show all the time go to Go in title bar and when mouse hovers over Go is selected hit the option key.

What you plan to do with the model makes a difference too. You may want all the components as solids so you can print them individually, therefore needing the joining faces, or if you want to explode everything into one big solid when you have finished modelling, then removing the joins is helpful. With a large variety of possible software and usage I don't think there is one best option.

One more option... Download a fresh copy of the SU13 installation files just in case they were corrupted during the original download. You may already know this but if you think it might be memory you can check by pressing the Ctrl-Alt-Delete and selecting "Task Manager" which will show you memory usage. I can run most things within 2Gb I upgraded to 4Gb because I was dealing with some large images in LO. 1Gb is probably unlikely to work well even with SU8.
