Hey guys I am desperate for very high resolution/quality satellite maps, I use Placemaker and I also use Nearmap but the resolution is not that great, I have tried using AI to upscale but that too does not really solve my issues. Is there another solution?

Hey Mike, I'm sure you figured this out already, but when you first create the attribute type a number with the inch mark like 0" or 0' in the value box and hit enter. This will set the unit for that attribute to inches. This only works for the first time a value is entered. After that first initial value, you will need to use the attribute info dialog to make changes. In addition, you can use 0 to set it to text (not "Default: Text") and 0cm to set it to centimeters. If anyone knows a shortcut for setting the unit to Decimal Number, I would love to hear it!

The file-set that you have got seems to be a set of XML files, which can be opened / read by some specific program. BUT SketchUp cannot do that, directly. If you find the correct program to do it, then you can hopefully view / process the files. Perhaps that program can then export the data into another file format, which of course needs to be suitable for SketchUp to import - e.g. DAE, DXF etc. You got the original ZIP file from somewhere. It must have said what format it was in and what application you need to open it ?? You need to do some detective work...

@schnipschnap said: Hi I tried about everyting.. still saving takes a long time. My drawing consists almost enterely of circles and arcs. (I build Dome Tents and Houses) I always used 1000 sides for circles to get a detailed drawing. Now i know thats too much... I used Autocad before, where circles are calculated somehow different, so i nerver thought this could be a problem. Now i know it is How many sides do you use? Does anyone know how to change number of sides in a entire model? Or do i just have to redraw the whole thing? Thanks for the help! Have you tried Window->Model Info->Statistics to see how many Edges and Faces your model contains? Edges don't take much data, so you could have an enormous number without getting all that large a file. The slow save might be SketchUp making sure the model is valid while saving it. Unlike Autocad, SketchUp does not have an abstract representation of a circle or arc. It represents one as a collection of Edge segments with some metadata tagging them as belonging them to a circle or arc. So, when you choose to use 1000 sides, you are affecting not just the visual presentation but also the size of the model, because each segment is saved individually. For what it is worth, unless you enlarge your view enormously you are very unlikely to see any difference in the view from increasing the sides to more than a couple hundred. There is no way to manually change the number of sides in every circle and arc at one go. Someone could probably write a Ruby to do it, but I don't know of an existing one.

same here, but also for the .skp files. Even with a new created 2015 pro version models i am forced to open in 2014 so i get an error. If i can not solve the issue (since i do not want to run 2015 version and then open the file via browsing or from the list below every annoying time) i guess i am going to uninstall the 2014 version. Any help will be very appreciated.

@dave r said: Get the Select tool and double click on it somewhere. It'll open for editing. It might be that it's made up of sub-components. If you see more blue bounding boxes, double click again to open for editing. Do that until you get to the edges and faces. Thanks, this helped me.

You certainly get the benefit of higher binned componnents, but the downside is they tend to be a generation behind. I've seen people try to hack the older gamer hardware with the workstation drivers to get the same results(for less money). The proven stability of the components combined with drivers geared for the openGL task and better support are what you pay for. Gamers get irritated about these types of cards because they are not gamer freindly, but I don't game so I don't care.

Yes you can! But all your appartments must be "components" themselve! See Component Comparison Components by Thomthom After I don't know what the plugin accepts as complexity component ? Maybe this can help you for make components first ? By TIG Select something Copy all this "one line" inside the ruby console! Press Enter m=Sketchup.active_model; m.start_operation("Faces>Compos"); n=m.active_entities;m.selection.to_a.each{|e|(g=n.add_group(e.all_connected); g.to_component.definition.name="FaceSet#1")if e.valid? and e.parent==n.parent and e.class==Sketchup;;Face}; m.commit_operation [image: index.php?action=dlattach;topic=1622.0;attach=15209;image]

It's difficult to tell from that image but it looks to me as if you have internal faces. Delete or hide those as well and the lines on the surface would really be hidden. In the front I'm getting what I think you're showing. The one in the back has had the internal faces deleted. [image: cyU7_Lines.png]

big tip... don't load two renders at the same time, and I will go further to say don't load them unless your rendering... why? they use observers which really effect performance on a mac... some are slightly better than others, but they all create additional computation that when added to 'Autosaves' and "Outliner' updates crash SU... be brutal, only turn them on when YOU want not when they want... john

@driven said: I'm not sure GC still works with skps, it stopped for a while at least, so I wrote a plugin... I'll PM you this 'beta' plugin that lets you add icons to your skps that Finder/QuickLook can see, if you want? [attachment=0:a5t9bzkz]<!-- ia0 -->2014-11-04 07.55.41 pm.png<!-- ia0 -->[/attachment:a5t9bzkz] I use it to add an icon from the 'File Menu' or a tool button any time I want, i.e. not auto on close. It does do batches as well, but I need to do a little more on that before I release it to public... I've had no horror stories from the dozen or more users who are 'testing' it. john Hello John, I too would be very grateful to get a copy of your OSX thumbnail/icon plugin please. Luds
