Apologies for resurrecting a very old thread, but I have a similar problem, but on a Mac.
I've downloaded Landserf and it gives a very good representation of the landform I have downloaded as an .asc file, but I can't find a way to get it into Sketchup (or Artlantis, or Rhino...)
Does anyone have a workflow for this on a Mac?

I've downloaded it but it won't save to .dem
It saves to many other file formats though and I'm looking at converters but still no luck.

Hi Anton. Can MSPhysics do wind? I've made some trees and would like to have them move in the breeze while animating using Thea render.

Thanks. if Graphics converter9 saves edited textures straight back into 2015 I may buy it.

    • Can't edit textures in 2015 on a Mac with yosemite

In Sketchup 8 I use to select a texture, edit it in preview and when I saved it it changed right there in the model.

In 2015 when I select a texture to edit I get a failed to load message, and sometimes when it does open I have to save a copy so the texture doesn't change in the model. I have to reapply the texture or use the replace texture extension. This doesn't work on a model with any degree of complexity as the textures don't fit properly. Are there any solutions and is Sketchup working to fix this bug?

      Thanks

    • RE: 64 bit pro

      Thanks.

Is there anyone from Sketchup on this forum or anyone who has a rumour who can say if they're working towards multicore. Or is this a big question everyone would like the answer too.

      Thanks for the replies

      sketchup make is also 64bit.
64 bit is nothing to do with the amount of cores available.. for all intents and purposes, it means sketchup can use more ram.

      @slbaumgartner said:

But this has nothing to do with 64-bit. As Jeff said, that will only allow direct use of larger RAM if your computer has it installed.

So is Sketchup now a multicore program. I get this notion from articles like this (link below)

SketchUp and LayOut are now available in 64-bit, which means they will now take advantage of your multi-core processor.

    • 64 bit pro

I know that only Sketchup pro 2015 is 64 bit and should work 4 times faster or host models 4 times larger on a quad core than the 32bit version. But does it? Can anyone who's used the 64 bit version say how much better it is.

I'm thinking of upgrading to pro as I work with 120 mb models, and like the idea of using my current workflow to perhaps work 4 times faster or work on 480 mb models.

    • How do I delete extensions in Sketchup 2015

Hi I'm on an iMac running Yosemite.

I've downloaded the trial of Artisan to use the paintbrush and it's really screwed up the projection of textures.
Now the entire image is placed inside each triangle. Flat serfaces are covered in the image repeated very very small. I just want to get rid of the extension.

I deleted it from the google sketchup 8 folder in application support, and from sketchup 2013 and 2014. But there is no sketchup 2015 folder to delete it from and when I open sketchup 2015 it's still there.

Could someone please tell me how to get rid of it.

      Thanks

    • Sketchup is better than Maya

Sketchup is absolutely the best interface at 3D modelling and has the potential with it's mix of 2d and 3d elements and plugins to be the best multi purpose 3D software there is, It's the only software where you can easily make a real, accurate place rather than a fantasy backdrop.

If I owned Sketchup you would be able to

      • Import models in most formats and have them appear with textures.
      • Load animated models as components and have them play separately or react to each other with physics
      • Import movies and apply them to surfaces for face me trees that russle in the wind, for backdrops, TV screens or anywhere you use a 2d still image today.

I would love to make movies and Sketchup has the best 3D interface in the world. (I've just spent a week wrestling with Blenders modelling hell ๐Ÿ˜„ ) Lets get some posable characters, animation, lets be able to import Makehuman characters and animate then and export them, to Marvellous studio or have those facilities as plugins/

Please please the workflow in sketchup is so fast, it has so much potential please please exploit it.
