Ruby Console opens automatically on startup
-
Hello,
for several days now the ruby console opens automatically on Startup (Sketchup Make 2016). This is not really a problem, but it is kind of annoying, and I don't know why this is happening and how to make it stop. When I close it it simply reappears the next time I start Sketchup.
I don't know if it could be because of an extension, but I haven't really added many lately and I already tried disabling them...
Does anyone have an idea why this could be happening and what I could do about it?

Typically it is an extension but you could try turning it off and then resetting the workspace.
I had this happen perhaps a month ago. It turns out that an extension had been updated by the author and they had not commented out the code they used to start the console when the extension loaded. I'll have to do some hunting to see if I can remember which one it was.

Alright, then I guess I'll have to check all extensions that have been updated recently. Thank you, let me know if you can find something out.

I will. You might start by disabling all extensions. renaming the Plugins folder makes it quick and easy but SketchUp will generate a new one to hold the su_ plugins. You might also sort the files by newest or most recently modified.

Good idea! I will try that.

Ok, I found the reason... looks like I accidently enabled the debug mode for the BGSketchup_Library plugin by Inteloide. Thanks for the idea to check the recently modified files in the plugins folder, that way I quickly found the problem!

Glad you found it. I wouldn't have hit on that as the cause since I haven't got that extension.

Yes, fortunately this extension saves the setting in an ini file, so I saw that it was modified and that debug mode was enabled.
