Hey guys
I am desperate for very high resolution/quality satellite maps, I use Placemaker and I also use Nearmap but the resolution is not that great, I have tried using AI to upscale but that too does not really solve my issues.
Is there another solution?
Hi unearthed, sorry for the slow response (seems my original reply dissapeared). Our new online solution (AutoTURN Online) will offer SketchUp users the solution you mention. Besides a yearly subscription you can also choose for a 1 month subscription, that could save single time users a lot of money.
The cost will depend on your region and ´vehicle libraries´ used. For 1 month use with 1 vehicle library the pricing would be in the range of $70-$120.
It was officially launched last week and should provide a swept path solution for SketchUp users. We do not yet support all regions but we do support yours (NZ).
You can currently test it for free before your purchase at http://www.autoturnonline.com
Really useful piece of software!
Images are very good and the instant building volumes are really helpful. However, the feature I like the most is the sync between your model and google street view, that the plugin is able to pull off. It allows you to create a photomatch of your model using what you see in Streetview as a background with a single click and redo it for a new position of the model with a second click.
Amazing "little" feature that can quickly help you turn a simple building block into a very detailed model, useful on a lot of scenarios.
Congratulations Whaat!
Have you (or them) tried the 'Import SKP' plugin for AutoCAD based products? Looks like you have to save your SKP file down to a r2013 format, I think. I have it and have used it several times with no issues.

Walt, No worries. I can relate to the over the head comment. It's where I spend most of my time. It doesn't help that I didn't explain the problem and how to correct it very well.
Going to try to clarify it a little better, I hope ! You need to edit the texture that is not rendering properly outside of SU in Photo Shop or Gimp. You change the color mode from "indexed" to "RGB" in the photo editor and then load back into the SU model and then it should render the correct color/texture.
I did not know that. I have heard about color being the proper mode, but not the specific problem.

And just tried a new model with nothing in it....
Can't find the red axis.
Just tested a model similar to the one in your file, feb 13.
With the camera position you presented I could find R, G and B axes in FOV less than 10 deg upto 120 degrees. No problem here.
The blind spot that seems to only appear on my laptop decreases with a larger FOV.
Weird.

I don't know of any links. It's just experience.
Reminds me of an Indian proverb."Talking to a wise man is far better than reading thousand books."

I am trying to use Sketchup to give me a report on componets that I am using to model a insulated styrofoam foundation.I have 3 componets: a corner, a standard block, and an adjustable length block which is used to fill in between the standard blocks and the corner. Some of these blocks are copied and moved and some are grabbed from my componet library. When I run a report some blocks are grouped while others are each on a seperate line. Is there any way to control what gets grouped and what is on its own line? I need my adjustable componets to each be on a seperate line so I can add the total length of all these componets and divide it by the length of a standard block to get my actual quantity. Help please..
Perhaps this will help. Rather than putting each cut block on a separate line, I did the addition for you. If this is acceptable I will send you a copy of the plugin by Private Message.

Tig has shadows Projector !
Yes, I have it. It's a lovely plugin. I recommend TIG to my friends as the Nike, Adidas, Puma, of plugins. He is a brand. Always use his plugins whenever you find yourself choosing between more than one plugin suitable for the same purpose.
I thank you very much for your exhaustive explication. It does make sense.
I will give a try, hope with great success.
Best wishes with my deep appreciation.
Speed and large file capabilities. They always say we'll just ask for more but SketchUp is always behind on what one needs for working on typical models for typical small building projects, let alone for adding landscape, and other models that are handled easily by other software.
