2017 - is it worth the change
-
Hi, So my reseller is saying upgrade now for much lower than full price. But is it worthwhile, what magic is possible with 2017 that's lacking in '12?
Will it run on my primitive hardware?
Is LO still outside SU? Has it improved.I still do landscape and ecology so workflows include:
large meshes
counting objects
cut and fill
basic architecture
don't render except using a bit of kerkySU2XL seems like the only stunning thing - which would enable me to cut the vectorworks cord - evil 10-horned beast that it is.

Nobody can tell you if it's worth it for you, or if it will work with your hardware.
Download and install it and test it and see if it works for you.
DO NOT uninstall your current version, they can run side by side so you can test 2017 while still being able to work happily in your current version. -
As Box says, only by trialing would you the benefits.
SU2017 also has a system checker to validate if your setup can run the new release.

Thaks Rich - even the system checker wouldn't run - I let if go for 3hrs and it stopped about 90% so I guess that's my answer!

Hi, for your information the plugin SU2XL works on previous versions of SketchUp (from SU08 till SU2017).
You can download it on the Extension Warenhouse:
https://extensions.sketchup.com/en/content/su2xl-0
or on the http://www.wisext.com site:
http://www.wisext.com (a windows installer is available to install easily the tool).
