Hey guys I am desperate for very high resolution/quality satellite maps, I use Placemaker and I also use Nearmap but the resolution is not that great, I have tried using AI to upscale but that too does not really solve my issues. Is there another solution?

Hey Mike, I'm sure you figured this out already, but when you first create the attribute type a number with the inch mark like 0" or 0' in the value box and hit enter. This will set the unit for that attribute to inches. This only works for the first time a value is entered. After that first initial value, you will need to use the attribute info dialog to make changes. In addition, you can use 0 to set it to text (not "Default: Text") and 0cm to set it to centimeters. If anyone knows a shortcut for setting the unit to Decimal Number, I would love to hear it!

Good insights pcmoor, I've been waiting on the new release to deal with this for many years so I'm not holding my breath. I just forked out for the full version of SpaceDesign and am happy with it. I'm pretty sure that if one were to spend a few days with VBA, Sketchup's classifier and Sketchup's "Generate Report" one could create a workflow that meets basic needs (as kaas points out) but buying the solution is so much easier.

@fluid said: We just released FluidImporter 3.1.0. You can get it here. Here's what's new: Faster import FluidImporter is now a full .rbz extension, with a single file for Windows/OSX You can access FluidImporter funtionality through the menu Extensions -> FluidImporter Added edge smooth option Options are now saved so you don't lose your settings when closing SkechUp Looks interesting except for the "machine lock." When I purchase software, I want it locked to ME, not my machine. Even high dollar software like Keyshot allows me to put it on a computer at the office and my laptop and home. ugh.

Here's our (current) workflow for drawing plans... I say that as we have changed our workflow several times over the years since using SU and LO for all our CDs. As a general note - we have used Buildedge for a while now to quickly draw walls and openings until we have a completed schematic model at which point we "commit" the model and work w basic SU functionality. Buildedge is super fast at quickly drawing walls, openings, floors and roofs and is very versatile for plan modifications. Once the plans is solid, we commit the Buildedge model to SU. As far as getting your model onto paper space... We tried Michael Brightman's workflow for a while w good success, our main issue with it was that you are constantly clicking inside multiple containers (groups) to modify things. We then switched to our own layer structure w simple layer grouping and Skalp as the main source for creating section fills. This also works great with one drawback... If you use SU models in the field on iPads as we do, the plan fills and sections now don't work because you used a plugin to create them - I'd say if you don't have that need, go that route. We now use Nick Sonders process w our own layer structure and it seems to work best for our case.

@mozzie said: Thanks Kaas. That was a big help and I'm back in operation. So I was mistaken. Juju - I had already read that post, but it covered mostly 3D Warehouse. For me, losing GE imagery is less easily worked around. So. sorry if I wasted your time - occasionally we all need a little redirection. FWIW, the link Juju gave has the link Kaas gave.

@unearthed said: Hi Sdmitch - Does your example above exist as a plugin? Utimately what I'm hoping for is a way to have an area of loose faces representing a subdivision parcel (maybe they're in a group or component - whatever works), and then have individual components representing each face - is there a way in Su for a face in a component to reference a loose face elsewhere in the file (I'll also ask this as a separate question on the main page) Yes, I will PM it to you. At present, the faces can be loose or in a group or component. If they are in a group or component, then that group or component must be opened for edit. Creating a component or group for each individual face will separate it from its neighbors so modifying a boundary edge will not be reflected in the neighbor. I can't think of any way for a face in a component to reference another face elsewhere in the model.

Ok thanks for the information - at least I know now it is not my fault which is usually the case. @tig said: OR... use my tool http://sketchucation.com/pluginstore?pln=HolePunchTool to add associated reveal geometry to a hole-cutting component... I'll check that out.

Well, if you are patient enough, it finally worked. I think it is just the size of the model that made it run so long. I found the offending part and am in the process of fixing it..........

You are right about trying to use it on Linux. I will be loading a Win Os within the next few days. Sketchup will probably be the only reason I install Windows. For now I will try to uninstall it on linux and reinstall later. BTW is that a Tasmanian Tiger??? Thanks for your help! Rich

The 2D image export in Skup (Win) is always related to your used width-height ratio of your SkUp viewport - yes, this is very annoying. I also have this problem very often when colleagues work with my files. If you render with any external renderer or any render plugin that all doesn´t matter since you're free to set your desired certain aspect ratio. For exporting single images within SketchUp Pro (Win) you can use the Animation Export. There you are free to set your aspect ratio, regardless of your current Skup viewport sice. Within the animation export you choose export "image series" (I don´t know the English naming here) instead of choosing export "animation"... (Unfortunately, this export function does not have the possibility to control antialiasing) I hope this evasion helps... PS: I do not know how SkUp(Mac) behaves in this matter [image: FldD_Animationsexportoptionen.jpg]

@oceanembers said: I wonder if there's a plugin to give all containers the default material? There is a plugin that takes the material out of instances (components/groups) paints the faces directly with it in one go. That would solve it... It also has a lot of other practical but dangerous tools: Thomthom's Material Tools
