Hey guys I am desperate for very high resolution/quality satellite maps, I use Placemaker and I also use Nearmap but the resolution is not that great, I have tried using AI to upscale but that too does not really solve my issues. Is there another solution?

Hey Mike, I'm sure you figured this out already, but when you first create the attribute type a number with the inch mark like 0" or 0' in the value box and hit enter. This will set the unit for that attribute to inches. This only works for the first time a value is entered. After that first initial value, you will need to use the attribute info dialog to make changes. In addition, you can use 0 to set it to text (not "Default: Text") and 0cm to set it to centimeters. If anyone knows a shortcut for setting the unit to Decimal Number, I would love to hear it!

Can you confirm if its a seperate plug in? As Chipp said yes it's a plugin! And free! In fact there is even 2 different plugins as some Moi Members are very productive in this field! Elephant and a variation of Elephant! (Maybe only one with the soon new beta V 4 ? ) But don't forget with this sort of thing : it's more easy to use a "node(s)" than build its own one! Because you must have a little practice training before obtain a true gem! [image: 1280px-FREMO_Alsfeld_DSB_NSB.jpg]

Hello, When SU takes longer than I expected, and when I did not save (especially for intersections), I open the autosaved version in a new window. I kept the autosave every 5 minutes in preferences, even if it's annoying while working on 100Mb+ files. This way I can work on my model while the first one is still working. (SU only uses one Core, so it shouldn't slow your PC even if it's working) You'll then get an AutoSave_AutoSave_filename.skp and so on. Just check the last autosave file's time or even open it in a new window like I do to check what you would lose in case you chose to force quit an hanging SU. Sometimes it's faster to lose 5 min work and find a workaround, SU beeing able to hang for hours !

Well, SketchUp 2015 doesn't support operating systems that are newer than it is. If he's updated the operating system, it's no wonder he's having problems. The solution is to update SketchUp. Keep in mind, SketchUp Make is for non-commercial use only. If he is using sketchUp at work, he needs to be using Pro. You do, too, if you are using SketchUp for anything other than hobby use. Your profile indicates you are using Make.

In my case, it is caused when Indigo RT sets a different aspect ratio for rendering in the active scene (for example, for a resolution of 1920x1080 or multiples of that) and when I apply these settings to the scene. In the viewport, the different aspect ratio is typically represented by vertical or horizontal gray bars. SketchUp 2017 (Make) does not cope with these settings of the render program during normal image export from the same scene and produces grey areas of different widths depending on the image resolution. Up to version SketchUp 2016 (Pro) this was no problem for me. I use version 2016 Pro for work and 2017 Make for hobby (Animation, because MSPhysics only runs with 64-bit SketchUp). Indigo RT (plugin "Skindigo") has in the menu "Skindigo Render Settings" a "Reset Camera" button, which also fixes this problem. "Advanced Camera Tools" are, I think, a pro feature.

A quick look tells me your issue may be related to your incorrect use of layers. Worth reading up on them too.

I have one master model w/ ~150,000 faces that I broke up into 8 or 9 sub-assemblies. To ensure a correct placement in the final product I would pick a location in the master model and draw a triangle from there to where I would create an origin point in each future sub-assembly. That gave me an exact number of meters for an XY offset. Of course that triangle would be sent off to the sub-assembly too just in case I needed to importing everything back into a master model for inspection. When I was sure I was done I'd make a copy, remove my offset triangle, and export from there. When I just needed to clear out space and work on everything separately (but always intended to produce just a single model), I'd do the reload component trick mentioned above.

@pmolson said: Question 1. Do you actually use a 4k yourself? nope and surely won't because to much strain to the eyes, but click on "etc." above for further info concerning this issue. @pmolson said: Question 2. Wondering if i run two displays... wouldn't recommend multi-monitor setups because regularly difficult with OpenGL-based 3D applications and also may mix up toolbar positions etc. because of negative screen coordinates if e.g. monitor #2 is placed left from the main monitor #1. @pmolson said: Question 3. Any Idea when sketchup will support 4k displays? nope but obviously not before SU v2018 not avail before roughly end of this year... if included. in short, don't try this @ home

Paul, that looks great. One of the challenges I have had/have is in rendering metals. I agree that if you are rendering a product the context is indeed important. I still feel I have a lot to learn. One of the thinks I struggle with is the vocabulary and most of the tutorials I try to read assume you have full comprehension of it.

Different triangulation plugins can work, but you still get problems. You should consider manually creating 'guides' in your models to provide triangulation 'hints' for your model. Take this part of the alamo model I'm doing. You can see how the lines in the faces help with the triangulation. [image: Trian.jpg] You can of course use the eraser tool and ctrl-click (PC, not sure Mac) to 'hide' the lines and they will still work as shown: [image: Trian2.jpg] FWIW, the fastest triangulation plugin I've found is the SketchUV plugin triangulator.

@pipingguy said: Thanks! And it seems to be permanent....vs. lasting only for one session. Yes - provided you save the model. Page behavior is a property of each Layer and is saved within the model.
