@solo said: Looks great, what scares me is working with a client on a project and waking up the next morning to find he has been doing many changes overnight. It seems you can undo every change ,and you can give your cliënt differend kinds of rights to colaborate in the design. It looks that it works like in the 3d warehouse ,and in google docs. I see. .dae can be exported from SU, and meshlab does handle that format, as well as .obj then if it is just the .3ds file format that gets in the way. Chris

Hi all, Andy from IceEdge put together a demo of a 39MB Sketchup model in Ice Vision, because I wanted to see how well it works with high-poly models. I've gotta say, it works good. Once the scene is loaded (this one took about a minute to load on my laptop) you can fly around or if you have scenes set up in Sketchup you can play a tour just the same as inside native Sketchup. Andy solved the black sky problem by putting a sky-textured sphere around the model...Good thinking, Andy Things I liked: -responsive navigation - not laggy like SU - I had several 3D trees, cars, and a 3D person and no sign of lagging. I included 2D trees that didn't turn out good but there is no reason to use them as 3D trees look much better and don't slow down the scene. -textures and colors translated very well -animated scenes in SU translate into Ice vision to create a one-click animated tour Things I didn't like: -no collision detection (should be able to toggle on/off as it is good for walking on rough terrain - but not so good for going thru closed doors) -fine details were lost, for example on the kitchen cabinet doors If anyone wants to check it out, here's the link. I had to increase the navigation speed in View Settings>Camera Settings. You can hit the play button for a quick tour or press the stop button at anytime to guide yourself around. Cheers, Marcus [image: EMg2_Capture.JPG]

Looks fab. Be great if they remember to include the buttons to create seamless tile-able textures out of it too...

...I'm not the expert here but the answer is YES....however with a specific geometric rock face like that, I would be inclined to model it rough in SKP and use the photography as alpha/bump maps, in short, creating the specific terrain in SKP and using VUE to populate it with green stuff. Vue isn't good for modeling...but I'd love to hear how someone would approach it from that direction.

If I install the PLE version of Infinite or Xstream and I wish to carry on using it commercially and without watermarks, can you register the PLE version and carry on working, or do you have to delete it and re-install a dedicated full version?

Tried RPS 3d pdf a while ago and it did an alright job. Currently use SimLab whenever it's necessary and it does a great job. I decided to stick with their old version though because the new "automatic camera mode" didn't seem to be turn-offable in the free version of the new one.

I found the problem guys. Somehow I had inserted 2 layers of the glass component into the group which when rendered in KT ~probably~ doubled the IOR. Once I fixed the glass to a single layer of glass the rending worked perfectly. I thank you for your assistance.

I gave the demo a go and I am surprised with the speed. Much faster. Also less noise (fire flies) than before. Nice update. Skindigo works nicely with the latest built. Good job Whaat!

They can. However, it depends on the format. Newer Evermotion packs come as a .max file so you need to open it in 3dsMax and convert it to either a .3ds file or an .obj. I find that Dosch models are more user friendly to renders that are not 3dsMax, seeing as they usually come with .obj and textures.

I dont think there is any pulic information about the .skp format unfortunately. You can use the SDK to read and write .skp files though: http://code.google.com/apis/sketchup/docs/downloadsdksubmit.html

Hi, The problem I am having is that when I export the lightwave (*.lwo) file into Unreal Map Editor 2L4, there is only one texture for the object unlike what I see when I view the object in a LightWave where all the textures are present. Does anyone have a clue how to do import into Unreal 2K4? I know the software is dated but help would be appriciated. Thanks.

I'm going to give all this a try---as I'm very interested in using the UDK to test urban design (and then run games occuring in these designed / augmented spaces). Signed up on the Unreal community discussion board...and found this same topic discussed here: http://www.katsbits.com/htm/tutorials/sketchup_converting_import_kmz_blender.htm Ideally, I'd like to work out a good pipeline for using SU created content....at least to put down an initial layer of general buildings, streets, etc. Having said that...I'm not married to using SU to create content. But, like Revit and Microstation, I know SU well and am just hoping ot reduce the amount of new programs that I would need to learn (or direct others in using them).

You might try the Podium forum. I did a search for light leaks in the trouble shooting section of the forum and found this discussion: http://supodiumforum.websitetoolbox.com/post?id=2187473&highlight=light+leaks Might be of some help. I have also found some problems with unusual hot spots and was able to control them by changing the view and/or angle of the sun.

Maybe the shadows are too soft (and there is no definite shadow for the legs of the chair) therefore it looks a bit floating (I guess in SU you know how to put something onto the ground).
