I never go above 220,220,220 for whites.(sometimes even 205,205,205 when the scene is brightly lit in exteriors). When the white material has a lot of reflection and/or refraction (glass) assigned, you especially need to be careful not to use high RGB's, because you risk to break the law of conservation of energy. Reflecting/refracting more light than you put in is physically impossible and will always look wrong.

Thanks to Al, Chris and Gaius, I made a copy of what was installed in my laptop: the 3 files in sketchup/plugin and all folder the Render Plus System in Program Files and now it s working. I think that something was not installed in the render plus system....

Gai, Thanks for the response. The fact that Twilight will be able to render sections in future has me sold on it. Kerky has been a great free companion though. Stan

For this use SuPodium Mac / Windows...same license Great in exterior renderings More than user friendly...like twighlight, which hasn`t a Mac version now Podium starts with the new V2.0 ( beta ) which has also no Mac Version in beta stage, but the actual 1.7 works well on Mac and will be supported further. You won`t loose anything by buying it know, if you want to uprgrade to the new release later. Informations are by http://www.suplugins.com Also please take a look here in the forum with the search function. You'll find a lot of information about all the renderengines, including http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?f=81&t=3220. greetings from the 21th century

@alpro said: Sepo, yes I did get to finally download the beta thanks to Dave at support. But still can't connect to the download page or supodium, wonder if its related to the problem Edson and some other users have sometimes connecting even though I thought I read that it was just users from Brazil that were having that problem. Either way, thanks to Dave and I'm gonna give V2 a tryout today. Mike mike, my problem seems to have been solved. eventually i managed to get hold of some tech people from my provider and they found out the problem: the route from my provider to podium's was blocked somewhere along the way (not at the start nor at the end). the solution was to re-route my access. i hope this is a definitive solution.

@pugz1983 said: Hi Everybody, Is there a way to purge all indigo material settings. I've always liked the way Indigo renders, but I hate the Fatal errors. I've searched the indigo forum for answer bu didn't find it. I cant seem to figure out were the error is in my materials so I want to purge all naterial and UV settings. PLease help Greetz from The Netherlands Hi pugz, You can purge Indigo settings using the Ruby Console. Type 'SkIndigo.purge_mats' to purge all your material settings. Type 'SkIndigo.purge_model' to purge all your render settings. I think you can only purge stored UV sets by selecting the faces in your model and then right-click->SkIndigo UV Mapping->Purge UV sets. Sorry to hear that you are getting error messages. I'm not sure what version of SkIndigo you are using but I have been doing a lot of bug-fixing lately. Keep checking the website for the next stable release of Indigo and SkIndigo (2.2) which should hopefully be out in a matter of days. If you could please post the error messages you are getting, that would be a big help. Thanks!

Yes, I saw the pre-order discount. But we had a hard time with Maxwell using the first versions. I am afraid I will pass this time and wait for the first signs of a solid and well tested version of VfSU on OSX. As I understand the current version VfSU (PC version) is not yet properly developed either. Francois

align, it depends a lot on what your intentions and occupation are. if you are an architect or designer, hence the focus of your work is the design, you would be better off with one of the applications that demand a short learning curve and that are easy to operate. i am talking of podium, twilight, irender, kerkythea, idx renditioner, indigo, pov-ray, etc. however, if you are an ilustrator or work in the visualization field, you might want more control to achieve super-hyper-realism. then it is probably worth – i say probably as you can achieve exceptional results with any of the apps i just mentioned – having a go at the likes of vray, maxwell, modo and others of the same caliber. but never forget solo's wise warning: rendering is at best 50% to do with the app you use. the rest is up to the artist in charge.

@aceshigh said: @al hart said: @aceshigh said: How do you guys do it???? How do you set the z-distance as the color intensity??? We did it by extracting all the faces and surfaces and running them through OpenGL in a separate routine and grabbing the OpenGL z-buffer. However, I believe you can do the same thing by turning on fog, perhaps making it a color, making everything white, rendering the image, and then processing the intensity of the images. Things that are further should be a different color or darker. (I was considering a similar "distance from the eye" routine for making shadows which get lighter as you move into the distance (without applying fog to everything), or Sketchy Shadows which change as the object in shadow is farther and farther from the eye.)

You're right, each medium has its advantages, but a medium of dimension n+1 can include the medium of dimension n. it is also true for post processing such as Photoshop and other rendering software, add some lights remember that what you see on the 3D pdf is just an ... jpeg ... I allow your computer to calculate the rendering in different positions and / or animation (or I does not). Each media has its time, one day when we will realize that the paper is so precious that it will end to the museum with the painting etc. ... The trick is to adjust the precision (or the features) of your model to the user. Do you think one day we will see cameras in 3d? in fact it already exists and is based on the technology of augmented reality, see the video I sincerely think that technology evolves too quickly, but we are not, we must be aware, and that is the goal of the tutorial ...

Agree w/ Frederik, please post Twilight questions in the Twilight forum... we may not necessarilysee a question placed here. could be that some kind of geometry is blocking the light? could be that the lights are large radius? could be many things. copying a light from one file to another should work perfectly

I have had all sorts or problems rendering this one model at any res over 800x600???!!!!! My work around was: -To render the house and tree in one render with alpha. Saved out as a vrimg then converted to exr then converted to png 32bpp -Then render garden and fence in another render with alpha. Saved out as a vrimg then converted to exr then converted to png 32bpp -Then bring the 2 images into PS -The garden and fence become the top (which has a transparent or alhpa backgound) layer which has a slight ghosting around its boarders (fence line and some plants which overlap the layer below). Hope this makes sense [image: Trailrender_05resized.jpg] This is the top layer
