Anyone tried Mavericks ? I have someone telling me that web-dialog callbacks are busted when they installed it ... For example, how is the SCF Plugin Store working for you with it ?? Downloading OK ? It might somehow be incompatible with v8/v2013 ? I'd appreciate feedback before jumping in at the deep-end...

Say 7 nests for some. It is so many because I would have a door that has door parts, for example then I put it in a house that has house parts in a project that has multiple buildings. I notice that it takes a pause after each double click too or nothing happens. Not exactly killing me... Just thought someone had a one-click trick. Actually what I like to do sometimes is edit separate buildings in a separate file and reload the component to the site from there. Keeps it more manageable.

@arcad-uk said: Thanks Jeff if someone hadn't defaulted on my invoice I'd be ordering today Interesting to see they are still main streaming the i5; do you think they may have some hyper-threading concerns? I'd need some convincing the i7 premium is worth the extra $s for a 0.1GHz clock boost. that's just how apple prices/sells their stuff.. i've never seen them advertise the price of the actual high end configurations as they're always tucked away as b.t.o. options.. the mac pros are even crazier in this regard.. the advertised costs will be around 3000 but once you start getting faster cpus etc, the cost can more than double. dunno, me personally? i'd get the i7 for the extra $200.. the haswells run cooler which (should) mean the cpu can run at turbo speeds for longer periods of time.. but the virtual cores of the i7 should also equate to much higher overall cpu activity during sustained operations (such as rendering).. fwiw, it's entirely possible that there's no huge advantage with the i7 over the i5 but that's an area where i would fall sucker to and pay the extra $200

I usually set all my scenes in SketchUp, then import into a Layout template. I adjust the first viewport to where I want it and from there copy and paste that viewport. I then go through and change the scnenes sheet by sheet. If I set up each view as a zoom extents and keep the scale locked, it seems to work well. The frame trick and window size tricks are clever though! Will have to give them a go.

@tridem said: though, your map seems wrong since reliefs should correspond to white areas. Note that the material preview has a bug and works on the contrary way I believe tridem is right. You need to invert colors of the bump map.

Could it be an issue of the scale of the SU model (size of image) in Layout? Jeff, I'll look into what you say about Preview, but the file size issue remains. I think one part may be taking a vector image in one app as opposed to a raster image in another and directly making a pdf of them. I have not tried taking either png or pdf from my CAD directly to LO. I think I wouldn't be able to scale as easily as I can in SU (using tape measure tool). In the "good" example above I have to take the background into CAD and scale that. Sloppy.

I spoke with someone that passed along a few pointers. The best focal length is 55mm, its the closest to the human eye. Back when we spoke we triangulated are position based upon actual features that were available in the CAD drawing. We also physically measured the height of the camera. Since then I have been diving into more GPS and GIS information. Most DSLR cameras these days have a gps. Mapworks add-on to CAD imports points bases upon GPS data of the photo or Phot2Shape plugin for QGIS does the same. Then the point file can be exported as a dxf for CAD or Sketchup Pro. This process can give you a leg to stand on when someone questions the verification of the photo-simulation.

good tip. on my latest project I did something different from my normal method. All geometry below ground (incl. floor thickness's etc.) were in separate blocks/components and put on separate layers, e.g. "rising walls" as opposed to just "walls" above ground. took a little bit to set up initially, but it's a relatively small project.

"Log me in automatically" (aka "Remember me") is set in the cookie. So if you choose to delete all cookies when closing the browser session (I would no blame you - knowing that Facebook cookies keep tracking your web "experience" even after logging out), you delete this "info" as well. In most browsers there is a possibility to set what cookies NOT to delete. It's your interest - and responsibility - which sites to trust or not to trust (to keep them).

Well it looks pretty authentic, frontone and porch look much like the colonial American style with some classical architecture influences I'm using the same CAD drawing technique when building the facades of surrounding buildings on historical site insertions.

Thanks Dave. This is what I did try, and I think it betters the effect for the most part. I don't move the sliders all the way to the ends as the few colors in the model begin to look strange.

Not all of us have appple quick time to run untitled.mov I did this gif as a aid to your posted format, Dave Most of the time I think Apple has a better video output I started with apple long ago but never made it to the mac so I dont know all the in and outs of is Mac OS Now answering Peter's question from a pc point of view? I have 3 thoughts to add 1} I think, in his case, it maybe the 3d setting of the graph card, if his frame is 10 fps and above for a video 1032 x 774. [image: oJXp_pic_0077.jpg] 2) or he may not have the right video grabber or using the right movie format for getting a constant 10fps and above. [image: SZvS_pic_0079.jpg] 3) or if its random and drop frame when he records his machine maybe doing things in the background Task Manager Change your SU or Recorder, set priority, to high or real time [image: pi6T_pic_0080.jpg]
