I'm looking at a whole building. It's a component and all the parts are nested components and (don't tell Dave) groups--especially windows that might be nested components from the assembly down to the glass. I want to work on something I see. First approach I can double click and double click and watch redraws until I finally get to it; or I could use the Outliner. Instead of the Outliner, with some plugin I wouldn't have to guess what component (might know but not always) or group (won't really know) the object is in. Wouldn't have to find it in the Outliner. Just pick plugin (key shortcut) and click face or edge: then ready to edit, no matter how nested it is. I would be inside whatever component that contained the entity.

Are you talking about Oli's trees. Would it not make sense to ask your question in the actual thread.

Couldn't agree more... Specially if you're talking about BIM plugins! They are fast at modeling things that are not really how they are going to be built. I tell you how I feel: The best plugins around are the line tool, pushpull, the group and component, hole cutting components and all the abstract geometry plugins, like joint push pull, fredo scale, curviloft... Then there are those that really really make a difference now and then Section Cut Face being the top one along with edge tools divide face and inspect (I have high hopes on Skalp, but suspect it will make me model differently... I'll take a look at it when there's a trial). Nowadays you can't live without a render plugin too so I'd recommend Thea to everyone. All the other plugins facilitate your life so much you wouldn't consider living without them, but I must admit that every new install of sketchup, narrows my plugin list more and more, and I use more and more the native tools. The only ones that make me run away are the BIM kind of plugins. They make you design their way, not your way, but that's fair though, because for that you have Sketchup already!

@cotty said: The last update fpr version 8 should be M5: win: 8.0.16846 mac: 8.0.16845 (http://help.sketchup.com/en/article/141303) You can compare this with your version number (help -> About SketchUp) Thanks! I saw that page. Since it didn't say anything about 8 at the top I didn't scroll down...Looks like I am set for 8. Now to go to 2014. Though not sure why.

Any chance you'd share the SKP with me privately? We can see what it looks like on another machine.

Dave, Yes. As I wrote, it didn't seem to be working until I relaunched. And I was hoping there was a way to select a group of points and eliminate, as in some other applications. Thanks!

Most LayOut objects will snap to their original position during a resize - which can be very annoying, or very useful, depending on your situation.

I did the whole ProfileBuilder Library folder but that didn't make every library file accessible.

Hi, Not sure it is is exactly what you need ,but my "Divide" tool in SuSolid plugin will divide non-solids in base of internal faces. So,for example if you have one cube and one face in the middle, the output would be 2 solids. You can check here http://www.susolid.com/susolid_divide.html David Malnar

Why, thank you Box. As our friend above stated the usual thumbnail runaround is a right royal pita. Never thought to look at template options. Ta.

did you reset safari? if not, do that then start again. (I think) it's Settings -> Safari.. clear history, cookies, & data. if that doesn't do it, I'm not sure what else to try. I do know it's possible to not have to log in every time you come to scf.. and can imagine how annoying it is to have to do so. I'm logged out every fifth day or so but have have my info in my keychain so it's just a matter of pushing the login button since my name/password is already entered.
