Opening giant sketchup file
-
hi!
so i had a sketchup file that was about 175kb. i added a bunch of materials/components/etc and the filesize jumped to about 57mb. i can't even open it now.. i think it might be because i installed vray.. is there some way i can open this stupid file or reduce it's size in a 'sketchup lite' or 'sketchup safe' mode or something so that i can open it and get rid of the materials? would rather not uninstall vray if possible!

This is not that giant you know; I frequently work on files that are twice this size.
Many different things could provoke that behavior though, first troubleshoot method would be to do the following:- Open sketchup (new file, not your big file)
- disable VRay plugin (go to window/preferences/extensions/ and there, uncheck the Vray plugin).
- Close the program.
Now try to open your big file again and see if it opens up.

And once you get it open, you can go to Window > Model Info > Statistics > Purge Unused. That should drop your file size by quite a bit especially with a large file.
