You do not really need to use any special rendering application for this. SU has some eye catching styles - although I would still model in a standard style and only switch for presentation purposes. Search for some of Dave Richard's styles shared in the Components/Materials/Styles forum.

@krisidious said: I think a Guru would know that SU would being crashing momentarily because of the huge number of double plugins and outdated plugins he had installed at any given time... I agree a Guru would have a sixth sense for when a plugin is going to make SU hang till eternity.

I think I'm following the video correctly, but I'm not getting the correct result yet. I've posted the question on the forum maintained by the makers of Booltools.

You could try installing XnView, the free image browser and editor. Besides being able to read dozens of different graphic formats it also displays SU thumbnails. You can get it here for a wide range of operating systems. Both skp and even skb are mentioned in its list of readable formats, but for some wierd reason SU is listed as an Autodesk product.

HA! I got it, with the help of a local math genius. Check out the solution attached. Just open the Dynamic Components option and switch the hinging from left to right and use the interact tool on the door. SIN was the answer! (fist pump) Door Hinging Solved.skp

I think 3ds only imports "geometry", well as far as I am aware I dont think the cameras can come over also I would look for a plugin maybe other than that I haven't heard of a way before?

Black tape on the check engine light will probably be just fine. Maybe. I hope. I don't find that I get reversed faces all that often when I work. And fixing them as I go isn't that big of a problem. I just right click on a properly oriented face and choose Orient Faces. I do see if frequently in models by other folks who start with flat surfaces divided into smaller faces and then use Push/Pull on them. Of course in those cases, while it looks like the faces are reversed, SketchUp is doing the correct thing if you look from the other side. As was already mentions, internal faces can cause problems but those should probably be removed anyway.

Thank you for your contribution! It is interresting to see several methods to do that! I had seen this tools, but I thought it wasn't as flexible as you present in your video It is really interesting for curve path! I don't succed for the moment with DC... Nevertheless, I wonder if spacing between seats is adjustable? Thank's a lot!

No not particularly just this happens reasonably often and I also had some autoCAD problems, which the AC forum thought was RAM/videocard. I'm just guessing really. The renderer is podium.

@bob james said: Thanks, TIG. Will they loose their high quality as a result of this process? Probably - try it an see. A .prc file is a format for text, the .pdf version will probbaly replicate it's quality but any images will almost certainly loose 'something' in the processing - of course it depends on what you want to do with it! It might not be so bad

Thanks for the suggestion. Before seeing is I found another way, which is imperfect but so far it's seemed "good enough". What I've done is replaced a section of ramp with a Bezier curve, starting as a curve between a corner of the two sections I want to join (further apart than the little gap I showed). Once the curve is spanning the gap, I use a plugin called "FollowMeAndKeep" which copies the rectangular cross-section along the curve. It's not really following the path I wanted, but with care I can make it good enough for visual purposes, which is all I need right now. I'll check out your idea and see if that can do a better job. So thanks again.

Dave is right. Volumes meeting at a common edge are not regarded as 'solid'.[image: Vq8i_Capture1.PNG] Volumes that are separate are 'solid'.[image: BgbM_Capture2.PNG] Volumes that overlap and share a common 'internal' face are not regarded as 'solid'.[image: H4oy_Capture3.PNG] Volumes that overlap but have no internal faces [here they were removed] are 'solid'.[image: oZp3_Capture4.PNG]

You can use, for example, the Remove all materials plugin and then do "purge unused" materials.
