Hi maxius, You can also use Tgi3D SU Amorph plugin (http://www.Tgi3D.com) to create curved surfaces. It has also a free Training Edition with a limit on the number of vertices in the mesh. Below examples are created with the free Training edition, the resolution can actually go a bit higher but after a certain number of vertices in the mesh you would have to use the commercial version. You simply select a closed loop and use “Create Mesh” command. This command creates the “smoothest” surface that fits the boundary. In the latest version, released two days ago, there is also an option to create “clean Bezier surface”. You would have to convert the boundaries to Bezier curves first. In the example below the one on the left is created with regular mesh and the one on the right is Bezier surface. [image: doqc_plane.jpg]

@gaieus said: It's modelhead and Notareal who figured this out. So this seems to be a broader issue and with IE. Good to know, thanks. It was not particularly pinpointed to IE (just a stong suspect). Anyhow it was verified that a new user profile did fix the problem, but the root for the issue did stay unlear (had no change to do a deeper analysis). Effect of 'random' entries should be trivial to test if one have time... just create manually similar random entries I sort of doupt that this actually have much effect, but still worth to test. No idea what might couse these entries.

Hi, There was a tutorial about importing SU models into Oblivion somewhere on the web that included SU Pro, 3D Studio Max and Nif Tools Exporter for 3DMax. Alternatively, you can use Blender instead of Max and Blender NifTools, but AFAIK, there is no such plugin for SU.

Very good point and it does not sound like something that is too hard to implement.

In previous versions of SU, we could only import greyscale imagery. I do not see how they are of better quality than the current colour version. Sure you could reload that image with the colour version exported from GE. If that is a good solution, you can still use SU 7 or 6 to import the GE image/terrain in the old fashioned way and then go on using version 8 with modelling. In my area, the "best" imagery is rather poor anyway so I do not see any difference.

Members often forget their login details. I even have a "canned response" for these cases so it would not have been hard NOT to really type anything (polite or rude) but just copy/paste the response with the relevant info. I was just not in the mood this morning.

Here are two ways - I added a temporary diagonal line to find the square's center. One is maximum size it will snap 'square' when the point-on-edge' is approximately square as shown, the other is fully 'inscribed'...[image: 84Kb_OctagonInSquare.png][image: rjST_OctagonInSquare2.png]

A component file that is inserted into a model, loses its relationship to the original file. If you change a component within a model, the file will not change unless you save the component to that file. If however the component is the model, when quiting, you will be given the option to update the file.

He posted the file to me. It was impossible to attach here as it is 9Mb+. To me, the intersection seems to be pretty smooth (regarding SketchUp1s nature to segmenting everything) but if really smooth results are needed, you need to make everything so detailed. The arch was made of really high segmented arcs, the dome way made of a really high segmented arc as the face to be lathed however the circle around which you lathed it is still the default 24 segmented circle. Such an intersection will always be somewhat segmented but if you are ready to sacrifice workability for smoothness and precision, you need to do it including all elements of the model. Select what you want mirroring and group it and move to one side. If they are 'axial' use the context-menu to flip - you probably what red or green axis. It can be undo it wrong. You can also mirror by using the Scale Tool - start stretching in the direction you want to flip and type -1. Relocate your grouped stuff as needed. There is also a Mirror Plugin that lets you Mirror about any plane you choose by three points if your orientations are non-axial... Do a Search for it in Plugins...

Hi Josh and welcome! SU was originally not designed to work with extremely large models (both polygon and extent) but there are lots of landscape designers using it, too. You will experience difficulties if you want to populate your models with lots of detailed, 3D entourage so you will need to find a workflow to avoid that but otherwise it can be a nice program.
