Brilliant!, the model is workable now. I'll keep you posted about the success / failure of 'reloading' the model in the original scene. Then exporting to Google. Thanks.

Alright, it's not clipping. It's because you have used a section plane. And as you must know, SketchUp doesn't create solids. It creates hollow structures. You have two options. Either get rid of the section plane and show the outside edges of the plates. The other option would be to use TIG's plugin to create a face on the section plane.

Are the good vs bad of similar complexity and the same version of SU? When you import to another program the inport filter may not be designed to handle the version. check the drop down box on the save as menue and it should show different SU versions. Maybe try an older one??

I suspect you mean door-handles ? There are many tools available to you depending on what you want to achieve. Native Move on selected edges/faces or even vertices will distort a form. Native Scale on selected geometry will distort a form. Native FollowMe will make a consistent cross section along a simple extrusion path. FollowMeAndKeep [FAK] script will do it in 3D without distortion. ShapeBender script will 'bend' a selected group/component along a selected arc/curve. FredoScale script will distort selected forms in several ways that might be useful too. Artisan [$] [aka SubDivideAndSmooth] will allow organic shape making/manipulation probably in excess of you immediate needs BUT well worth having too...

I am guessing you are clicking on the "Photo Textures" icon in SketchUp, and it brings up the window in Street view? Try clicking the "Add Location" icon, that will bring up a regular Google Earth window where you can grab the terrain and import that. You can click that icon many times to keep importing more pieces of the terrain. Good luck, Chris

Thanks for replaying @unknownuser said: it seems a bit excessive to reinvent the wheel... Your are completely rigth! That does not make sense. I was just looking for a possability to set and save such an option along the skp-file. @unknownuser said: Have you considered the JointPushPull script ? Yes, I thought about that. But I decided to work only with a few plugins. Regards, Kurt

Well, it was fine until I exported to obj. I got like 10 textures of the same original wood texture, and that don't fly. Trying to redo every side with manual repositioning... it's all a huge mess. Edit: Ok, I redid every side manually.. alt-copying didn't even work properly for IDENTICAL polygons! EG: The back-side of the wheels. I just cut out the wheel front and pasted it in in the back. Exported ok now: only 4 materials as I wanted. [image: IXN7_ahh4.png]

This sounds like Sketchup got stuck. It has happened to me after severely contorting some geometry. I even saw edgeless slivers that could not be selected. And I was not using any layers other than default. I think you discovered the best way to correct the problem.

@dave r said: Hi Bently, Nice to see you here. Long time, no chat. Thanks Dave, Been doing well, work is good at the moment. I've surely missed your tutorials, (like a lost sheep wondering around on the plain) lol Glad to be here. I've already figured out a few of my questions just by looking around. I'll try to be a little more active as soon as I figure out the workings of the site.

@unknownuser said: Well, I find this interesting. I work at the house, on the road, at 4 other offices. I have started using a small 320 gig HD. However, I have this fear that I will leave it behind, or have it stolen. So thanks, for the info. I will be giving it a try. What I didn't know the drop box folder would show up in my directory listing. Thank You Ken Yes - just looks like part of your documents directory when you install the application. I'm nearly as big a fan of DropBox as I am SketchUp

Hi Napper, Use the scale tool inside the group/component (while editing it). You can also use the Tape measure tool to scale a group/component while editing it (again). Measure an edge whose desired size you know and after clicking the second time, just type the desired value. Again, inside the group/component (this is important as beside SU remembering that it is a custom scale, your materials will also be scaled with it). Alternatively, if it were a component, not a group (why not?) when right clicking on a scaled component, you also have a "Scale definition" menu item. That will tell SU that this should be the "normal" size and not an exceptional one. When you have windows in a model, they are likely to be in several instances anyway in which case components are preferred anyway.
