I'll take a look, but well, I did manage to come up with something relatively decent (although it was a relatively simple model, a basic miniature house for a model train exposition)

Yes, that is what it looks like to me, too. If you download the 'solar north' plugin from the extension warehouse, then you can click the top button in the plugins's toolbar to toggle on and off.

If you are wanting to zoom and pivot from a fixed position, as you would a camera on a tripod, you should look at the Advanced Camera Tools that come with Sketchup Pro. ( In the tools menu) Once you create a camera, you can look through it and pan and zoom from that point. You can use the arrow keys or the look around tool to pan, and either change the fov with a right click/edit camera, or using Option and the arrow keys. The center mouse wheel and the field of view command from the camera menu will both move the camera and mess up your shot, so don't use them, and make sure to lock your cameras when not adjusting them to avoid accidentally moving them. If you don't lock them or remember to exit them when done, (right click/done) they will follow you around in a very annoying fashion.

That's good to know that can be an issue. For this file, I don't see any reversed faces.

AFAIK the viewer used to be payware (bought a licence myself back then, for Android) but the licensing was changed it is now free.

@justintse said: You might want to check out Modeleur - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UXCHJTxQR1s it's an urban design extension that seems like it might line up with what you're looking for. That's pretty much exactly what I was looking for! Yeah it's pretty but maybe worth it. Thanks.

They actually work correctly as intended. The images are watermarks which are set to stretch across the entire model window. You have the option to edit the background settings for the style to add ground. [image: TaSu_Screenshot-7_11_20194_46_22PM.png] If your model has terrain as geometry, there's no need to edit the style but it's within your control to change them to suit your needs.

i don't want to push it - but it would be cool if we could hover over the row of tabs and tilt the mouse wheel to force a scroll.

Thanks for chiming, TIG Yes, the planes were on the ground plane; I never thought to check that!!! I guess I've always started generating line work on the ground plane and wasn't aware that even when hidden style is active, two or more planes won't display... I know what I'll do from now on; set my floor level above the GL. Easy fix. Thanks again.

@frederik said: Those plugins sure are great, Juju! However, I also feel that it should be a native SU feature rather than a 3rd party plugin... True, true. But what are you to do when the native SketchUp just isn't interested in developing the Pro tools? I'm super grateful for the efforts of the developers, both of free and commercial extensions.

not sure i follow you pbacot. see attached sequence of crude screenshots. their numbers don't match the narrative below, but you get the picture. grab block's midpoint and drag it along red axis until it snaps to path 2's left edge drag block down along blue axis so it's flush with the poured concrete footing using inference snap, of course. move block to path 2's right edge using midpoint snaps and tap ctrl to make a copy. divide by 2 and erase the outboard copies. slide block along green axis and place it wherever you wish, nicely centered, on path 2. There isn't anything that will round off all the corners in one step but once you've rounded one with the 2-Point Arc tool, you just double click in the other corners and repeat the operation. [image: OkOG_corners.gif] Click on the picture if it doesn't move. Please correct your profile with the right SketchUp version.
