Yep - It was the one about knock-on effects. You are correct that is just opinions but what caught my was comments in the early posts about how there seems to be some drop off on this forum in the number of respondents (especially in some that have very active in the past). I thought I had noticed it before as well so it caught my attention. Even though I did see some things I agreed with (yes, they are opinions) and I found the thread was interesting.

FWIW, the imagery imported into SketchUp when you use Add Location doesn't come from Google and hasn't for a few years. Google changed their terms of use to prohibit usage of their imagery and terrain data. Google basically took their toys and went home. Now the imagery and terrain data come from Digital Globe which provides it at a cost. (Google used to provide it to SketchUp for free) The more you pay, the better the image quality. You can get much higher resolution via Placemaker II if you need it.

Thanks for your guidance. Yes, I have done that reading and get the concept. I guess it is a problem that I am working from CAD with contour lines that cross the property line (which is at 0). I trimmed all the contours at the property line, but when the "from contours" makes the terrain, it is just slightly different, not exactly the same shape for as built versus existing, when I look in plan view. So I guess I need to enter z values around the edge of the park/property line. I will keep working. Thanks.

Sorry for the delayed reply - internet out! That's solved it! I had tried to re-install, but it obviously hadn't run through properly as I don't recall it asking for the SU versions. I'm now up and running. Many thanks for the advice!

It's Eneroth's - called https://extensions.sketchup.com/en/content/eneroth-legacy-save It lets you save your model as an earlier SketchUp version. It doesn't overwrite the default 'save' option. But you can set a shortcut to it, and use that in lieu of the native tool...

How are you adding components? Do you mean you are downloading them from the 3D Warehouse? If so, you should open them in a separate file and clean them up including getting rid of unwanted layers before putting them into your main model.

This has been happening for years so not a big deal, I was just curious. It happened with my last computer too.

You don't need to access the File Locations in Preferences. Just create a new Materials folder in a location you can access such as My Documents as you would create any other new folder. Put the SKM files into that folder. Then, in the Materials panel, open the Details menu (to the right of the drop down list). [image: zDhg_Screenshot-8_5_20197_37_37AM.png] Click on Add collection to favorites. [image: 0G07_Screenshot-8_5_20197_37_52AM.png] This will prompt you to navigate to and select the folder you created. Choose Select Folder. From that point on, that Materials collection should appear in your drop down list. FWIW, you can sort your materials into sub folders if you want. For example I have a folder for my own wood grain materials. I sort the materials by species. I've just added folders inside the master "Wood Species" folder. [image: 8UXz_Screenshot-8_5_20197_38_30AM.png] If you want to add materials from a model one at a time to an existing library, you can open the secondary pane in Materials, set one to In Model and the other to the desired library. Then drag the thumbnail from the one to the other. [image: LXLa_Screenshot-8_5_20197_43_33AM.png] If you wanted to save the entire In Model library collection as a local collection for future use, open the Details menu and click on Save as a local collection.

@derek edison said: I haven't seen the in-app check work since version 2017. 2018 still reports it's the current version. th in-app check does work for point releases of the concerning major version only, not for new major releases. Which is helpful especially if maintenance lapsed and license data for a new major release is not available sothat upgrading would lead to a non-working version.

And make sure when you installed it, you right click on the downloaded installer file and choose run as administrator to make sure it installs correctly.

@anton_s said: Can do that with ClothWorks too! [attachment=0:2wt755v5]<!-- ia0 -->Soft Box.png<!-- ia0 -->[/attachment:2wt755v5] Steps: Draw a box and group it. Assign a cloth property: (Context Menu) ClothWorks -> Make Cloth Apply adaptive grid with desired spacing: (Context Menu) ClothWorks -> 1 Cloth -> Apply Adaptive Grid Set stretch to 0.09 and bend to 0.25 via ClothWorks UI. Set gravity to -1. Draw a rectangle beneath the box and set it shape to collider. Simulate. Use drag tool to deform at desired places. Stop when the box settles over the rectangle. Make use of the toggle drape feature to apply material. Thank you very much for your help! This extension is awesome

Which graphics card is being used by SketchUp? Changing cards might fix it. Keep in mind that Sketchup 2019 doesn't support the OS version you are using yet. The SketchUp folks recommend not upgrading at this time.
