Or just draw a short edge between a few of the edges on the flat top (not at the perimeter), select it and move upwards with Alt pressed. Use FlipEdge to fix the flat areas.

Try changing your OpenGL settings under Preferences>OpenGL. Specifically try changing Use Hardware Acceleration. And see if that changes anything for you. You might also check to see if you can update the video drivers.

Rich's method is perfect if your blue prints are in an image format and can be applied as a texture. If you've got a SketchUp drawing instead, you might want to look at Chris Fullmer's Shape Bender.

@gnome_mo said: Old topic but I hope somebody can help me. I ticked off foreground in styles, and it shows fine in skp. But when I render in vray, my model looks transparent (or it has foreground on, result is the same). Only thing I din in V.ray is put my background photo in background slot, placement type:place, UWV-Environment-screen. Bacground renders fine but why is foreground on? I was also wondering about that and then found out the solution myself while searching this forum. It is about Vray settings, not the SketchUp Styles. You need to go to Environment under the Vray Settings and turn the GI on. It worked for me. Hope it works for all of you out there too. Stay safe!

Hey These are kind of fun. She uses the "thingies" idea pretty well, as well as it looks like she had some fun with the projections. Your right, interesting idea.

Just a note - you could also have done the concurrent animations by placing 2 (or more) animate functions on the same onClick function, just seprate them using a semi-colon: onClick: animate(X, 0, 36);animate(Handle!RotY, 0 , 90)

I have a blog about SketchUp and landscape design called http://sketchupland.posterous.com/. It's been more general stuff lately, but I'll have more landscape specific articles soon. Here is a list of good 3D trees from 3D Warehouse: http://sketchupland.posterous.com/best-3d-trees-from-3d-warehouse. There are a number of good landscape designers/architects on the forum. Hopefully they will showoff their inspiring work, and show you the ropes. [image: 1.jpg]

Also 2048 is still sort of "luxury" as it will be downsampled anyway and/or will not load properly (or at least fast) in GE and all you can see is some kind of smeared bunch of colours. Note that everything needs to be streamed from the servers. If there is a low bandwidth connection, people will simply navigate away when not seeing anything soon.

Well, I have corrected the problem. With Dale's help. For some reason, the program reverted back to a trial version and it appeared the registration code wasn't working. However, the problem seems to be me. I guess I wasn't careful enough in entering either the email address or the code. Anyway, after being extra careful, the program was registered again with the original code. I wish to thank Dale for all his help and the program. Just wanted to be sure I have included the solution to this plugin problem. Thanks to all in your responses. Ken

Make your component with each of the 5 parts as subcomponents. Then make a copy of the main component and rclick/Make unique. Name the new component Comp1-split or whatever. Double click the new comp and split it with move/rotate tools. Whenever the subcomponents in either comp1 or comp1-split changes it will also change in the other component. But the placement of those subcomponents will stay different because the main components are not the same - only the subcomps are shared.

I'm trying to bring a file using the "paste in place" from a file that it is already geo-located, to another file also geolocated and the insertion point when I paste it is on a different place, Is this a problem caused by a plugin, because I've installed some. Is this happend to anyone else? I'm using on SU8 pro 8.0.14346 Gracias.

No, the versions are always updated together. In fact, there is just one core program. Your version is the most up-to-date now - it came out some time in January or February. Aaron may still have had the previous version (from September).

@raoulfrissen said: @solo said: Got an example of a "beautiful" shape you want to make? I want to make super mario. but all I can at the moment is cubist shapes ... Thanks Do you want to make him in 2D or 3D? Are you familiar with plugins? If you want to model the character in 3D then Artisan would probably be the way to go. It does cost a little bit of money but from what I've heard, it is more than well worth the money. Pete (Solo) would be your guy for this if you take it on and have any questions. Good luck. I'll also give you some links to just a few really great plugins (most of them free) that have at least something to do with organic shapes in general. Take a look at them and use as you have need. Whaat's Artisan Fredo6's FredoScale CPhillips' SketchyFFD Chris Fulmer's Shape Bender TIG's ExtrudeTools Fredo6's RoundCorner Fredo6's Tools on Surface Fredo6's Joint Push Pull Of course, these are just a few and there are many others you will most likely come across while using and discovering SketchUp. Best of luck!
