That's true. However especially this texture scaling issue is the reason why one should not scale groups/components only just a little bit (so that the different instances do not differ too much from the definition itself). Just an example: I model everything in a bigger scale knowing that SU has issues with too small scales. Now if I use ten instances of the same component and at the end I scale everything back, the texture will get distorted on each so the scale definition command is useful in this case. In the above case, the model was already messed up (some parts with scaled while other parts with normal texture) so here it's almost all the same which method we choose, neither is really "clean" any more.

@007 said: Edson, did you flatten the image before saving, as it won't update in SketchUp then? it takes the likes of 007 to solve the riddle. you nailed it! the image needed flattening. thanks.

Search Google for your image. Save it to your PC. File > Import as image. Check the texture box. Use in model

My HD4850 GDDR4 runs just fine since over 2 years. I really would like to upgrade, but sadly I can't see any reason for this, even Lumion runs like a charm on this (old) card. I could not imagine your 3000 will make big problems. Why don't you try your card with a complex model and the free version of su?

Here is my solution to this problem: -change units from mm to meters -resize the model with the measure type tool (1mm = 1m) -apply trim to the solids (and also all other operations till finished the model) -change units back to mm -resize back the model with the measure type tool (1m = 1mm) I'm sure that there are other problems related to the size of the model, that can be overcome in this way.

We have had a closer look to this already. It would need yet another javascript to load and it is quite an active load to always query the Facebook site for the stats it seems. Sometimes SCF is getting slow anyway (looking for solutions...)

Angy, as I suggested, please, post in in the SketchyPhysiscs subforum instead. Those members rarely visit any other part of the forums and you could have a much better chance to get help (I myself do not use SP so I cannot help)

jharchar, It's possible. I posted an example DC with consecutive animations in your first sliding door post: http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?f=289&t=37691&start=0 If you're interested in only the animation feature of DC's, I agree KeyFrame is a good choice.

I believe that SU native tools should be used initially by noobs in order to see the scope of the product, plugins are there to expand the app further and they certainly do, but I maintain that one should only venture to plugins once they are fluent with the capabilities of the base product.

Is this the way you think it should look then?[image: 6TQN_Clipboard-30.jpg] That's how I understand what you're explaining, but IMO that looks very wrong.

Very cool models and environments. Is the lighting/shadows created with a plugin or do you use another program to do the renderings?

Hi, I try to make à texture with diplacement for simulating insulation material (like stone wool) in thea render : I create this : [image: ogNF_textureboule.jpg] Then i follow the tutorial on this topic and i done this : [image: nS1X_cubetexture.jpg] After i have export the scene with the plugin in Skechup, open in TheaStudio and: Check Geometry>smoothing>smooth Uncheck "Normal smoothing" in Displace The result : [image: BG1G_cubeinthea.jpg] What i have missed ? I need to use UV mapping ? I'm a beginner in render and texture... And I do not find a complete tutorial (step by step) about use displacement in Skeptchup and Thea...

May be you need a new mouse? Borrow one to see if that's the problem. Most of use have more parts then we use.
