Hi unearthed, sorry for the slow response (seems my original reply dissapeared). Our new online solution (AutoTURN Online) will offer SketchUp users the solution you mention. Besides a yearly subscription you can also choose for a 1 month subscription, that could save single time users a lot of money. The cost will depend on your region and ´vehicle libraries´ used. For 1 month use with 1 vehicle library the pricing would be in the range of $70-$120. It was officially launched last week and should provide a swept path solution for SketchUp users. We do not yet support all regions but we do support yours (NZ). You can currently test it for free before your purchase at http://www.autoturnonline.com

@sketch3d.de said: if paying 70 or 80 bucks for an upgrade roughly every 2 years or so my demands would be pretty demanding too, could imagine that, besides the compulsive stuff already mentioned, brewing a yummy cappuci or latte macchiate every now and then could be a great improvement too go4it a Linux/iOS/Android/<replacewithyourOS> version can be expected also, no doubt!!! leavin' ironic mode, Norbert On the other hand its only 70 bucks. However yes I do agree modelling features need to free, plugins like curviloft, soft skin and bubble need to installed from the beginning. Features like layout should be pro. Sketch-up is slowly being more often used in architecture studios, for good reason, its fun and easy. The only thing the way sketchup should evolve is by keeping the original philosophy (it should be fun and easy. I could pretty much make everything that could had been made in rhino, thanks to sketchup's free plugins. Google needs to make them standard. My rhino tutors are saying wow.. you made that in sketchup? And yes I said Ive made that in 10 mintutes. In fact I was so good at it that he said to me "hey listen you don't need to do these lessons, just use sketchup, I'll pass you. Now what I propose for the free verson is, a simple opening advert wont hurt.

Thanks TIG, but that method takes removes the information (the tags) from the dxf - I'm hoping that there's a way to import each block's attribute data into a DCs attributes. Seeing as your script parses the incoming data stream to create the 3D text, would it be possible to create a text block for each icon, from each Autocad Block? Certainly it does what it says on the tin though, thanks and yes, you're right it does run for a while - for my data it was best to do it in batches of 100 icons at a time: [image: W2He_treetest.JPG] bjornkn, this would work well as a complement to Alan's method above, thanks.

Option one: Disable sun and use only GI for lighting. Option two, what I have used for scenes like the one you posted: Add a surface where the ceiling should be, on the side facing the interior, apply a material. One the side facing the camera, apply a transparent material. That makes it opaque for shadows and external lights, but the camera still sees inside. You then need to place lights inside to light it.

Many of the plan requirements might be handeled with general notes placed on the plans. Like Note:Existing site drainage to be unaddected by proposed existing garage remodel. For this and any other like projects; you might contact an local builder or architect and ask for an old plan set for use as a guide. Bob

HI, i used the drape tool in a small section and that stopped the crashing ,but it did not transfer very well leaving spaces. So then i pulled the design through the ring and intersected with model and deleted unwanted geometry. .I then used fredo's pull push tool and it did not seem to bad . i did not pull it the whole through but have a look at the file i sent back . Regards Phil

@tig said: OK... Windows-Vista and Windows-7 have a stupidly hyperactive [but uncommunicative] 'security checking' system... that might be it If you put a file into a folder on which you have insufficient access-rights, instead of Windows telling you that, it looks like the file went into the folder, BUT in actuality it's been put in a 'Compatibility Files' folder [I think Win7 has another similar name ?] so it doesn't auto-load from there, as it would had it gone properly into Plugins! Windows protects you from yourself, but doesn't let on! The clue is that a 'Compatibility Files' button [or similar] is added to the top-bars of any folder's windows that have this issue - clicking on that reveals what's not really been loaded. To fix/avoid... Ensure that you are a full Admin in your User settings. Change the Permissions on the Plugins folder [and the Components, Materials and Styles folders too as you might want to write to those from time to time] - to do this right-click on the folder's icon > Properties > Security > Edit, change permissions to 'Full control' [All?] for you, AND for others who need it. Now move the scripts etc across or reinstall them from scratch... Thank you so much!! I couldn't get rid of Engineerintoolbox.rb and I thought I was going crazy! It still don't make sence though! Download some rb, goes in standard folder, download another goes in hidden folder, Same permissios, same user.

You have some unneeded coplanar [hidden?] edges in the facets. Use an 'erase_coplanar_edges' tools on them first ?

Also try turning on hidden geometry (View>Hidden Geometry). That will allow you to edit/delete portions of the terrain mesh that shouldn't be there.

Hi Frascati, hi folks. As pointed out, this curved surface is easy to fill using hand stitching. I did one side in less than a minute. If the object is symmetrical I suggest you do one half and then mirror a copy and assmeble the two halves together. As for the white face, you have three (3) faces on top of each other. Click on the face and delete. Repeat untill you delete the last one and you see inside the model. Then Undo the last delete and paint the surface. You have probably some small unnecessary geometry that is causing a problem there. Just ideas.

What you are looking at is referring to LayOut which is an application that only comes with the pro version. It isn't drawing rectangles with round corners in SketchUp, though. You can draw them in SketchUp free the same way as you would draw them in SketchUp pro. You draw a rectangle and the use the Arc tool to add the round overs. There's a tool in TIG's 2D tools that makes it quick but this is a basic excercise in SketchUp and one should know how to do it manually.

FredoScale-Bend uses a temporary lattice with user defined segmentation. I have found that if you make a group of the object you wish to bend prior to the bending operation(in which a temporary group is formed, if I recall correctly), this helps somewhat. Maybe not in all cases. Round Edges, or Round Corners by Bezier also has user defined segment or facet settings. It works best by using a small number of segments. As Alan said, the results are dependent on segment count, acuteness and radius of curvature. The condition I see in your illustration is where native Sketchup Autofold did not happen due to any of the above condtions. I can see where this would be mind numbing on a large complex model to manually correct each and every condition.
