I am trying to model a ring with an engraved crest. I created the ring blank as one group and the crest as another. The crest is basically a flat design that I was hoping to drape over the ring and then push in certain details. However, if I try to run drape, Sketchup crashes.

Any idea what I'm doing wrong? Model file is attached.

Perhaps you could try Sketchup's Sandbox > Drape OR my 'SuperDrape'...
        BUT
Because your 'logo' is very poorly formed, with many unnecessary edges etc, it will take a loooooong time !
Even if you scale it up temporarily to avoid tiny facets >>> Bugsplats...

Why not remake it, somewhat simpler ?
The super-fine detail will never be seen anyway... πŸ˜’

HI, i used the drape tool in a small section and that stopped the crashing ,but it did not transfer very well leaving spaces. So then i pulled the design through the ring and intersected with model and deleted unwanted geometry. .I then used fredo's pull push tool and it did not seem to bad . i did not pull it the whole through but have a look at the file i sent back .
          Regards Phil
