Yes, where you click to begin the move is important. I picked a face on the object by inferencing its face for the beginning of the move. Perhaps I muddied the waters. I wanted to show there are many ways you can get inferences, and I moved off to the left with the face inference to begin the move in the video so the first object wouldn't move to the left and be in the way.

Thank you, Dave. But I think it`s the best way to make some component uniques.

Not in Sketchup. There are lots of other applications you can export a SketchUp model but that would mean losing a bunch of features, too. Most common would be an interactive, 3D PDF or an online viewer or a walkabout "game like" application.

I know, the thread is oldish but maybe someone will find my little research helpful. I found a theme based on Windows Aero which looks neat and it's quite dark. So dark that you may even find some icons hard to see. But anyways I prefer low contrast brought by this theme. A lot more comfort to the eyes. If you share my love for dark GUIs, check this out and follow their instructions: https://www.deviantart.com/yorgash/art/Steam-VS-for-Windows-7-449032822

@trogluddite said: My usual method (used on screw/bolt holes all the time), is to use the 'entity info' window - you have to do each end one at a time, but I find it less fiddly that the scale tool, especially for holes, where the surrounding material can make it hard to see exactly what you're doing. ....... Really easy solution, works a treat! Many thanks.

Hi taylorjl There is a 'Play Animation' action (right click on Scene Tab) with button Play, Pause or Stop. It would jump from Scene to Scene. You can even skip some Scenes from your animation sequence (right click on Scene Tab > Scene Manager > Include in Animation). Under Model Info > Animation > Transition you can adjust Scene Transition and Scene Delay. Set Scene Transition to 5 Set Scene Delay to 0 You will get 'smooth' animation. PS. You could install SketchUp Viewer for your 'Students' to be sure that they don't play too much with your model.

Here is an example using Vertex Tools. Takes a few minutes. You probably already have something, but I think this would be faster than a tree plugin. I didn't texture it properly but you can have these if interested. I made cylinders with multiple mid circles. Lined them up and used VT gizmo (gently) all at once on multiple soft selections. VT cost but you won't regret it, and you also have a chance to support ruby development. [image: aMFx_Palings.png] palings.skp

I've made some progress. I learned how to import a real airfoil with a non-zero thickness trailing edge (NACA 0006) and loft it into a simple fin shape. Then I used the technique in the video to make a fillet. It's pretty good and I'm going to close this thread. Thanks for the help cotty! [image: XWcR_FinfilletalaCurviloft.png] Fillet 2(v6).skp

What an interesting title you have here. So...what physical attributes are necessary for mating?

Thanks TIG. I agree with the "right way" comment, but when you are bound by something, you are bound by it.

thanks for the reply Dave. yeah, small wedges were what I was thinking, tried it with a 6000mm radius and a wedge 2 degrees wide, and I just ended up with what looks like a psychedelic circular rug hhhmmm, bit of a bummer that. I'm not great at photoshop, but i'll have to give it a shot.
