About the tools that say "display section planes" and "display section cuts." They appear to work the same way; both allow me to place a plane, show section cuts, and even right-click to create group from slice. So what is the difference between them? What does one do that the other doesn't?

"Display section planes" does just that and allows you to edit their position and status. "Display section cuts" will carry out the "active" cut, if you turn it off the whole model is displayed. Easy really one is settings the other is the tool.

Thanks, ArCAD. The thing is, when I click either of them onto a model, they both display a section. So both icons appear to do the same thing even though one is called plane and the other section.

n/m, i think i got it (i think, lol). I have another question, tho. Sometimes when I "create group from slice" all I get is a blue rectangle, not the shape of the section. What am I doing wrong?

The "group from slice" is in fact just a series of edges in a group. Since the edges are colinear with the section cut itself (also displayed as "edges" although they are not really edges), on your screen they look merged with the cut and since it's a group, only its bounding box is displayed.* You can test it: while this group selected, move it aside of the model somewhere and see if all the edges are contained in the group itself.

*You can also set your group/component edges to highlight if under your Preferences > Compatibility (why there?) you uncheck "Bounding box only".
