The clipping in sketchup is one of the most frustratingly long-standing issues around. Try switching your camera to perspective, that usually works as a quick fix.

Hi ! The curves you have created are too heavy, meaning there are too many segments. Do you have an untouched model? With no rounding done on it? I too believe you are asking the plugin a bit too much, especially with so many segments. Not really the plugin, but when you give Sketchup that much to chew, things might get unstable. You could try to divide the surfaces where there are straight lines and run the plugin twice or more for each surface.

Kristoff is right that a texture would probably be a better option. Especially considering that this tile is probably going to be a fairly small part of a much larger model. You could even use the tile you've created to make the image for the texture if you want. There are strategies you can use to help keep file size down in models of this sort (I reduced yours by about 74%) but it doesn't reduce the number of entities and the entities count can impact performance when orbiting and zooming.. I would suggest, though, that rather than turning Profiles off as in Kristoff's screen shot, set it to 1. For the model at hand, it'll look the same either way. [image: BNBU_Screenshot-2_20_20154_26_17AM.png] But, if you have curved surfaces, there's a distinct difference in appearance. This is most evident when using the Hidden Line face style but it's present in the other face styles too. You could install Draftsight or Nanocad and work the dwg there natively. They're free.

Thanks for that JQL. What exactly is the purpose of the third model?

In vanilla sketchup: -You can create a face in the correct orientation, texture that, set the texture to "projected", and use the texture from that to paint your model with plugins: -Pixero's UV Projection plugin might help you out here, it will speed up the approach I described for vanilla -Marginal's UV editor could also work nicely, albeit with a little more effort -I haven't used ThomThom's UV toolkit, but I believe it could present a solution of some description

I expect you'll find that people do different things but for standard types of construction, I don't think it makes a whole lot of sense to draw entire structures with all that detail. Nick uses "canned" representative illustrations for those sorts of things. You should consider the time you'd have invested in placing all those entities and the return on that investment.

I have been using Promap 3D models in the UK but the models are pretty basic a bit like Google Earth but with no textures. How did you get or who made the 3D models of the buildings of the city ? Amazing work by the way

Exploding it might be the right option but maybe not. It would be easier to tell you for sure if you'd share a link to the model or share the SKP directly.

pbacot, I use Podium for rendering. I will have to jump over there and see if I can find a way to do what you are suggesting. I should have thought to look at my render program for a process. Thanks

As Dave says... OR if you have the SketchUcation PluginStore Toolset installed, then you can use its submenu item to 'Install Archive...' The native Installer expects an RBZ archive, but the SCF installer works on both RBZ and ZIP archives - meaning you don't need to fiddle around with the file renaming step - just install from the ZIP in one step. Also if you happen to have a lone RB file... then you can also zip it, and use the SCF installer directly on that new zip file too...

@topofsteel said: I have read through several old threads concerning this, but the links to outside sites/scripts were broken. I am going through the process of moving the selection box and grabbing terrain over and over again to get an acceptable resolution. I am looking for a way to automate that process. Possibly with a nested for loop moving the selection box incrementally. I have programming experience but i'm new to Ruby. Are there any similar scripts, starting points or other solutions? Thanks. to topofsteel: I have been manipulating GE terrains via Sketchup for many years. My purpose is to create contour slices, color them and end up with a color-graded contour map. It works very well - 99% automated, but only once the original terrains are manually imported - and even then, problems can arise if the imported terrains don't overlap correctly. I have tried to intercept the Sketchup "Add more imagery" menu option. I have a partial result, which means I can begin to "talk" to the GE map server, but then that communication link fails... obviously, I don't have the correct classes/methods available in my context... Any thoughts or experiences you (or anybody else) might have on this subject area are more than welcome.

If you want the equivalent texture-image in LO then you can't use the SKM. But in the SKP Materials Browser use the pop-out menu to export the Material's texture-image file. Then use that image file in LO.

Please you solved it. I have done exactly the same. I attach my bonnet tile file. Bonnet hip tile And how it looks in the file with tile materials applied. [image: dGqy_bonnettile.png]

Sure. I messed about in terminal but couldn't get it to work so I downloaded this tiny service app: 1 - Download SymbolicLinker: http://seiryu.home.comcast.net/~seiryu/symboliclinker.html 2 - Mount the dmg file and copy the .services file into your (Mac HD)/Library/Services (if its not there add it) 3 - Open the SymbolicLinker.services file from the folder you just copied it into 4 - Navigate to your server or dropbox or second hard drive - wherever you store your materials collection 5 - right click on your materials folder and at the bottom there will be a new option saying "create symbolic link" 6 - now select the new symbolic link it just made and copy it 7 - Navigate into your sketchup folders ~/Library/Application Support/SketchUp 2015/SketchUp/ if you can't see it use; finder->go->go to folder and copy that in and press enter 8 - delete the sketchup materials folder (OR RENAME IF YOU WANT TO KEEP THE DEFAULT MATERIALS) - I've already collected these into my custom folder anyway so I just deleted them. 9 - paste (your symbolic link) and rename to "Materials" All Done! Can do the same for style and components, you can also use these instructions to store other folders on a second drive if you use an SSD.
