I'm having a similar issue. I've been working on four individual SU files. They're all saved locally, in the same folder. Three of them work fine; the fourth, however, has been behaving basically as roland described above. The original file won't save, and it keeps creating backups in numbered sequence. The other three files don't do this, just the fourth. Anyone have any ideas why this would be happening to one file in particular? It's not much different than the other three. In fact, all four are essentially the same model with just about the same file size. Thanks for any help!

The ratchet is the pump mechanism, you turn the handle and it winds the bar up to move the piston. Rack and pinion. Another version here. http://www.bonhams.com/auctions/20933/lot/92/

There is no secret. It is just photogrammetry tools gotten that good. Take thousands of photos, dump them in,a few days later get the result.

@fordwaters said: ...changed some settings for read & write capabilities under the Sketchup application folder. I doubt that will help at all... SU doesn't write AutoSave's into the .app folder, by default unsaved models go into the 'AutoSave' folder... Sketchup.find_support_files("","AutoSave") which for me returns ["/Users/johns_iMac/Library/Application Support/SketchUp 2015/SketchUp/AutoSave/.DS_Store"] as mine is empty [by choice]... Once you 'Save' or 'Save As' a file, it's new 'AutoSave' saves to the same folder as the new skp. the one for 'Untitled' stays in the folder, but it is then a dead link, that won't open... To clarify your issue... 1: You are 'AutoSaving' an 'Untitled' drawing 2: you then name by using 'Save' or 'Save As'? 3: after this manual save, you get the 'Failed to save file' error, at the pre-set time limit... I can replicate this only if I Lock the folder after I first save it, or manually move it from my user folder... but then I am unable to 'Save' without the same warning... Are you running as 'root/admin'? as that's the only way I can see how you can get this issue... as 'root' you can save to anywhere you like without 'error' messages, but SU can't write to the same scope as 'root' so 'AutoSave' would fail... john

When you do an array of cutting components you need to watch out for copying multiples to different faces. A couple of instances of the same component tend not to cut when placed on different faces, whereas an array of one instance will pretty much cut anything it hits. Here you see an array of 7 cuts even when it only hits the corner of the building, but array more than one to different faces and it fails to cut. There is a specific rule about what works and what doesn't but I can't put my finger on it right now. [image: biNw_CutArray.gif]

@sdmitch said: Yes it only creates a component if there is "attached" text. I will put the code into a plugin and send it to you by Personal Message. Wonderful thank you very much This is my first time asking for help on here and I appreciate every bit of return given!

Guess what: that's not the entire ship. As said, that file is just the part isolated. The file size is because of those textures [EDIT] Yeah, it's the texture's fault. I resized it to 25% of it's original size and now it shows up just fine. I didn't know there was a max texture size that Kerkythea could handle

axyz has a few that you can import from OBJ https://secure.axyz-design.com/shop/mecas0006m2 A few here of lower quality http://www.lowpolygon3d.com/ It's sad really how little diversity there is in this market.

You should start to learn the basic tools, but you can get some ideas in this video series by Elisei e.g.: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tzjA0GPdQrw

Hi Jean, that's a very objective aproach to conceptual process. Of course I think on such thing as space between table and wall and my stairs do have to fit somewhere there, but won't you need to bring some emotion to space someway along the process? I mean a room can be very small or very large you can even have a table folding from a wall. Eventually, with experience you know what is a fair size to have on a living room and a dinning room and so it all has to have some other kind of aproach to make things original... So wouldn't you think that a conceptual aproach shouldn't be that limited by those dimensions? My architectural aproach has not to do with bricks, tiles or tables, but it's about the meaning and feeling of a place. I guess that's why in architecture the opposite is also true.

Dave R Sorry about the missunderstanding. I personally don`t have Sketchup Pro and this issue is more work related (were I use Pro) than personal. Ive used the move tool a lot and didnt found it difficult to use, but also found the locking Z axis trick. The difference is quite noticeable, especially when time, speed and accuracy are crucial. Thank you very much for your answers! cotty I know that method but Im afraid that it would not help me much, only if I can change the attributes for multiple selected components (wich I quess doesnt work). If not, it`s not worth the effort, in comparison with the move tool option. Thanks for the answer.

Hi John, LenX is a size, but you said "move" and position which is a little confusing. Do you want to have the component snap to a position, or snap to a length when scaled? If you want the position to snap to a grid, you would use the X, Y, or Z attribute. Maybe: X: =floor(current("X"), 600) [image: y9ut_2015-03_244.png]
