Sure. I messed about in terminal but couldn't get it to work so I downloaded this tiny service app: 1 - Download SymbolicLinker: http://seiryu.home.comcast.net/~seiryu/symboliclinker.html 2 - Mount the dmg file and copy the .services file into your (Mac HD)/Library/Services (if its not there add it) 3 - Open the SymbolicLinker.services file from the folder you just copied it into 4 - Navigate to your server or dropbox or second hard drive - wherever you store your materials collection 5 - right click on your materials folder and at the bottom there will be a new option saying "create symbolic link" 6 - now select the new symbolic link it just made and copy it 7 - Navigate into your sketchup folders ~/Library/Application Support/SketchUp 2015/SketchUp/ if you can't see it use; finder->go->go to folder and copy that in and press enter 8 - delete the sketchup materials folder (OR RENAME IF YOU WANT TO KEEP THE DEFAULT MATERIALS) - I've already collected these into my custom folder anyway so I just deleted them. 9 - paste (your symbolic link) and rename to "Materials" All Done! Can do the same for style and components, you can also use these instructions to store other folders on a second drive if you use an SSD.

Same happens to me. I click it until it lets me open it. Usually about three times. As for the recursively creating skb files, I have found out that SUSOLIDS makes it worse. After I removed the plugin that didn't happened that much.

@ernstsblog said: I habe the same question. To me this looks as if this is no longer possible in the make version. You might have to buy the pro version to change options. That is clearly spelled out in the link I shared in response to the OP's question.

Nothing more than the Scale tool. I selected all the faces on one end, except for the final loop that takes you to the centreline. Then I squashed them slightly. Then I did exactly the opposite to the two loops either side of the centreline...stretched them. Obviously, all you then have to do is to repeat step 1 at the other end. However, as I didn't note the scale factor when I squashed the first end...and to get it exactly the same at the other end, I actually cut the whole lozenge in half down the centreline, duplicated it (using Ctrl+Move) flipped the copy and joined the two halves back together again. It sounds complicated, but actually took less time to do than describe. It sounds like you're coming along just fine. I'm sure there will be hurdles...not least making sure the stl file is completely watertight, but you can rest assured that you can print just about anything in 3D from SketchUp...however curvy and organic. It's a pretty lousy photo on my phone, but I actually managed to turn this [image: military-figures-various-positions_FF_Model_ID11158_4_usmil20_thumb.jpg] into this. [image: file.php?id=41424&mode=view] I lost the fine detail on the end of the barrel...but this was quite a few years back

It should show progress of the RBZ files in the status-bar. If you have the Ruby Console open are there any error-messages ? Can you do an Update or add a new Plugin using AutoInstall ? Is there anything unusual about your SketchUp set up, or user-name etc... What do you get if you try this + <enter> in the Ruby Console. SCF::PLUGINS

Hi beikaboda, welcome to the forum! Great questions. Yes, you will need to model in a margin for the slide , usually 0.3 - 0.5mm clearance is a good starting point. You may need to adjust the margin depending on the accuracy of the printer. For the screw, do you want it to slide in easily, or do you want the threads to 'bite' into the hole? 4mm hole for a 4mm screw is going to be a tight fit, so make it a ~0.2mm larger or smaller depending on how you want it to work. For such a tiny hole, fewer segments are better - 6 or 8 segments should be plenty. Hope that helps!

Welcome to the forum, Zach! There are some plugins that attempt to do this inside of Sketchup - TIG's Image Trimmer and Thomthom's Bitmap to Mesh plugin are two of them. These can work, but I have found other methods to work better. Cura Slicer will automatically make an STL from an image. You can then print the model directly, or save the STL and import it into Sketchup for further work. Shapeways 2D to 3D utility will make a model. You can then download the model and convert to STL with Netfabb Basic for further work. Convert the image to vector format using Illustrator or Inkscape, then save as DWG and import into Sketchup. This method usually makes the cleanest lines. There are other methods you may find by searching "image to stl". Hope that helps!

The adjacent 'cylinder' is in the same context and so its geometry prevents the bottom face of the box from being PushPulled - commonly this is seen when a face has conflicting geometry adjoining it. It can be overcome by selecting the cylinder's geometry and grouping it. Now the bottom face will PushPull, because there's no conflicting geometry at its edge. Afterwards, if desired, you can explode the cylinder group so that it merges back with the rest of the box's geometry... [image: R6dS_Capture.PNG]

No need to make it a component. You can also name the group and find it using the Outliner. Another approach could be color-coding the layer of the group. Using a color-by-layer style you could visually find the 'special' group. Only useful if you use a limited amount of 'special' groups and or use a logical system for the colors.

Your issue is this... The rectangular face inside the DC has no materials at all == <default>. Use Entity Info on the internal face [edit the DC] to see that. When you change the DC's "Material" it applies to the DC instance itself. So when you get Entity Info on the DC itself it's say "Red". But the internal face with no material <default> which are inside a component [or group] 'display' the material of that container - the face's material does NOT change from <default>. So although a face might 'look' "Red", it actually has no material at all <default>. Your DC code looks for all faces colored "Red" inside the DC component, BUT there are NONE, because the actual face has the <default> material - so you correctly get Area=0. You can fix the DC code to report the face's area by using Area as =FACEAREA()/2 Note /2 *** to consider just the one side ! Now that DC always reports the Area of the internal face***. In your current DC the Area is returned, and you have its Material of say "Red" etc. BUT if you have a "Red" material actually painted on to the face itself [one side], then the code =FACEAREA(Material) will work IF the chosen Material is "Red" - giving Area=12345... - otherwise it's Area=0 - as if another color is chosen there are no "Blue" or "Green" faces, so then the DC's chosen Material returns Area=0 again... In DC code you cannot assign a material to a face, only to a 'container' - component-instance or group. You can change the way a face 'appears', because any faces using the <default> material displays using the container's material, but its material is still <default>. ...
