If you build your geometry correctly and use groups and components you would only need to select the group and taper it.

@dave r said: But the text portion is very useful if you need a cut list. I also find it useful as a quick check for problem dimensions. I agree completely on both points. The printed parts list is my go-to to take to the lumber yard when selecting boards. And I embarrassingly often discover parts that were drawn just a bit out of whack when their dimensions come out on the printed cutlist with the dread ~.

I like screw.rb from ruby library depot. Just draw a shape and run it once. [image: jea9_ScreenShot2016-04-02at7.28.35AM.png]

No, I'm afraid. Fredo has something in some of his plugins that allows you to quit an operation but on the whole once a plugin needs to start a process you're at the mercy of the time it takes.

Similar problem. OS X 10.11.4 SU Pro 16 New Wacom Intuos Pro med. Wireless space mouse - JFTR, works incredibly well with SU. Massive speed improvement for me in navigating 3D. However finding Wacom really inaccurate for picking up points and moving. On small projects the move tool stutters and jerks around. Thought it was human error at first... tried every setting in Wacom config wasting several hours... Picked up 2D outline of basement to move with Wacom - useless!!! Really wasting time and effort to place. Put pen down - picked up mac mouse without de-selecting object. Object moved and snapped perfectly!! Would appreciate any suggestions - close to boxing Wacom and send back for refund. Thanks

Google 'smoothing groups' (soften edges controls in Sketchup). It has nothing to do with Post.

Welcome. the geometry in your model is wrapped up as a component. In fact, it is double wrapped which it probably doesn't need to be. You can open the "wrapper" by double clicking on it with the Select tool. You'll need to do that twice to get in to the geometry itself. I would be inclined to explode the outer wrapper and leave only a single one. You can right click on the component and choose Explode. [image: TriC_Screenshot-3_29_20167_46_02PM.png] [image: jVQm_Screenshot-3_29_20167_46_50PM.png] FWIW, in the future please upload your SKP file here by clicking on Uppload Attachment below the window where you type your text.

Click on the file folder icon to the right and choose the desired location for the file.

The last section extrudes turning less. Overlapping etc. Well the plug-in is still very useful when I can cut and join the halves = solid object. This was (the last twisted torus) extruded from an involute gear. 12 tooth. A quite heavy task.

Thanks for the link! I'll definitely check this out as it looks promising for fixing issues with the model itself. What this doesn't offer, though, is the ability to set a scale factor. Manual entry is just fine for now - just hoping to streamline a bit. Maybe this exercise will get me to learn how to make my own script.

Maybe you need to make a board the same way a tree would and then carve out a sphere. Will a texture suffice or are you going to actually have to create the surface irregularities? If it's the latter, SketchUp is probably not the right tool for the job.
