@pbacot said: From the size of you model, clipping may likely be caused by objects far from the origin, or just the model being very big. You can look for objects that are not needed far away to delete or copy out, and move the center of the model or your center of interest to the origin. That'll do it. I had a mass of people, probably a mile or so away from the origin. Thanks!

See this for another way. https://sketchucation.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=18%26amp;t=68150 Due to internal tolerance settings, points that are closer together than about 1/1000 of an inch are considered coincident. That can sometimes create gaps.

One reason could be the imported drawing has edges that do not exactly meet or intersect. Also ome CAD drawings are 3d and though it's not clear in a 2d projection some edges don't lie on the same plane exactly. Sometimes minuscule inaccuracies are not detected by SketchUp. They look right in SU but really there is no intersection making a closed shape. SU has some trouble deciding what is coplanar and what is not. For example performing intersect faces on a face will only catch part of all the faces that abutt that face. Nothing's perfect.

For my house models I usually get all the views as Dave says, using layers to hide items (and sometimes the hide function) in a scene to get the different elevations or portions of the project. But it sounded like you were really having trouble zeroing down on your components so the the "save" function came to mind. I use that sometimes to put the house in a separate file to work just on the house (or other buildings, like detached garage), which may also exist in a combined site file with the terrain and other site elements. then your axis for that model can be independent of the site and other views can be saved in that file.

OK I kept typing pan and of course I meant orbit. Sorry. PBACOT - The alt key did not help - I did not see a real difference. Charlie and Dave - you are of course right - I do not know why I did not think of doing just that. And Dave - see my response on the "embedded" components. THANKS TO ALL - It just goes to show that "If you are the smartest person in the room, you are in the wrong room" - I forget that I am often in the right room and should just ask questions!

However I am having disc errors so computer is no longer reliable. swapping the disk maybe replacing by a much nimbler SSD isn't a big thing... but why not simply stick with SU Make 2016?

@pbacot said: If you have two faces that coincide and are hidden, there's no problem. If they coincide and show, that is not good, and it also relates to what would be physically impossible. Make simple shapes, e.g. a window frame that act like the real (more complex shape) and this shouldn't happen or just be careful and frugal about how you represent surfaces. Doubled faces in some cases mean you've drawn more than you have to. clear! I was asking that question becuz I was just confused if I have to approach that physically correct or not. thanx again!!

@sdmitch said: When you click on it does the entire line get selected or just the segment you clicked on. It matters because curves have to be adjusted differently. In this example, I use a 10 degree polynomial regression on the curve that is the top side of the face. For some reason, I couldn't see your attachment until today. That looks like an amazing plugin. I fixed the problem area by creating edges with a closed loop using sandbox, deleting the face, and then using Soap skin & bubble. The result was much smoother geometry. The new tools will definitely help in the near future. Thanks to all for the input

I agree, having to rely on internet connectivity to validate your license is probably not a good idea. Even if you are online, what if the server you are phoning home to is having issues or experiencing some downtime. For that reason a more reasonable approach is probably better.

Great! Thanks for such a quick reply. Ugh. Getting old... Turns out I commissioned such a plugin from Jim Fultz over 10 years ago and just now discovered it. I created a post on it as well. Vertex tools is better. https://sketchucation.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=323%26amp;t=64554%26amp;p=592146#p592146

@trip12091 said: UPDATE #1: I've noticed the following... While the edge I am pulling is absolutely 100% square and plumb (as confirmed by the protractor), the pulled extension is coming out 0.6% off. It's barely visible until you really zoom-in, but it is there. No. It isn't absolutely 100% square. If you set the precision in angle units higher, the Protractor will show confirm it. You can also check the coordinates using the Text tool. [image: DPJE_Screenshot-9_11_20174_47_25AM.png] UPDATE #2: I have now found that if I take the one face of the original plate, copy it, then push-pull it to the proper thickness, and then, after than, push-pull the edge to the proper width, it is working-out fine and I can delete the line. I have Nooooo idea why, or what's going on. Trip[/quote] The reason that works is because Push/Pull is precisely extruding at 90° to the face each time. So by copying the single face and extruding that, you areleaving the problem of your out-of-square edge behind.
