Yeah, I know the 3ds pains (have been experimenting with them). UV maps are just exploded and texturing is almost impossible (OR you keep the UV maps but lose softened edges and then the soften command don't work from Kerky). Well, I hope Tomasz will find out ways - as well as for section cuts.

So SU uses the graphics card when it renders views? (print and 2D saves) I thought I read somewhere, where the question was why saving a png didn't match what was on the screen (in terms of anti-aliasing), that SU used software rendering when saving 2D graphics. Maybe that was an older version?

If you still haven't been able to get on over there, let me know and I'll check with the moderator. There have been some issues in the past with difficulties getting registered.

Sigh... You are right, Pete got rid of many of his originally embedded images (this is why it would be preferred to attach them straight here especially in case of tutorial or CMS content). Anyway, Now as we have UV Tools (with spherical mapping), this tutorial, however interesting solution and useful it was, can be considered sort of obsolte. I also have two models (or rather high poly spheres) in the Warehouse: http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/details?mid=bc92eca8611ed04d2470944666440e50 and http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/details?mid=6ed69ca0de0718c2bb014d52f42fdd7f where (if you do not mind the high poly stuff) you can simply reload the images and they will still preserve the spherical UV mapping.

Wow thanks much, I cant believe I hadnt thought of doing this... I made a couple models where I positioned each and every object by hand. That way took hours, this way takes minutes. See here the result of a grossly overloaded pallet when combined with a grossly under-intelligent employee. Mind you the pallet jack had to be positioned by hand, Sketchy Physics' object types do not allow the entire model to be used as a single object (unless used as a static mesh, which wont work here), leading to VERY odd things happening when placed underneath and through the slats on the pallet. This can be worked around, but I did this in a few minutes time. [image: BCkP_Firedemployee.png]

personally, I gave up on the component cutting feature. I preffer to just take a measure of the component, cut the walls myself (when drawing or after extruding the walls to 3D) and just put the component on the ready hole. (AcesHigh)

Then, I built the roof apart and I positionned it on the 2nd floor. My idea was to cut the walls with the roof and to keep only parts needed. But, what a mess finally !!! Many walls are wide open now and it's difficult to retrieve closed geometrical forms :[image: hvjp_pb_avec_toit.JPG] Anyway, presentation is nice ... and my first objectif is a volume study for an extension to be coming :[image: SkCA_vue_globale.JPG] Many thanks for all the help I found on this forum. @srbocanegra said: you can solve this problem by using an app like "the unarchiver" instead of compression utility, This way when you unzip the file it'll be a exec file with the .style extension. hope this helps you P.S. sorry for my bad english Boy, is this an old post to dredge up. There's no need to extract the contents of .style files. They should be placed exactly as they are into the Styles folder.

it's a weird preference because it doesn't really change much.. it's not as if i had all of these files on my computer without their extensions showing.. everything shows .jpg, .txt, .skp, .zip, etc. regardless of my selection on that preference.. it is turned off by default and there was never an instance prior to this that made change it.. the only other file type that i've found to be affected by this is .webloc..
