The thumbnail of a component is alway created from the view when it is created. So when you want to create a component, orbit to a view you would like to se in the thumbnail and make the component then.

If you still want to use a skybox, you could turn down the opacity of the texture to 65%, SU treats anything with less than 70% opacity as clear, so this should let the sun through without eliminating your skybox.

Inspiring stuff. I love how they post processed the models best though. Looks like paintings.

Hi Landscapedraw, The sandbox creation process should be shown at the bottom of your SU screen. Do you see any process running there? (Sometimes - especially if it is a complex set of contour lines ,-, it can take rather long; even hours!) If that is an issue, you may be interested in "simplify contours" downloadable from the ruby section of the GSU website (scroll down to the bottom).

Try the Ruby forum - ComponentReporter+ etc for output as .csv: there's also some input stuff using .csv files for data in...

Well, you can already export your "section slice" from File > Export > Section slice. It will export as dwg or dxf. As for capping, ou could use TIG's SectionCutFace plugin.

I think the options will depend on which font you have selected.

Hi RD, Note however that most models in the WH are (or rather at least "supposed to be") real life (1:1) scale. So if you keep having scale issues, make sure that your scale is correct (1:1) and you are not working in smaller or bigger than real life.

I was using 1' squares--I will try bigger ones. The other weird thing is that when I activate the Smoove Tool on the grid, the yellow cubes appear in many other places on the drawing! Also, I'm not sure to erase the sandbox grid once I apply it, if I want to change the size, etc.

You only have to hold down the Alt key while sampling. Not before (while positioning the texture) and not after you sampled (when you paint the other facet).

thats true, Gaieus. but unfortunately you don't see any connection from parent-component to sub-components. so if you expand, your component window is clattered with items as before...

I found a simple way to rotate "text". Use a dimension instead, then edit the dimension text. However, the dim lines may be a problem.

It definitely looks as if it had been unsoftened. You can soften the whole meash to "get rid" of them (as I see there are no draped lines on it which would be a pein to lose in this case).
