Every time I try to use the From Scratch and Smoove Tools my computer freezes almost instantly (I have lots of RAM, by the way). Anything I can do about this?

      Hi Steve,

What are the other specs of your computer?
Processor and first of all video card?

Try to turn off hardware acceleration in the Window > Preferences > OpenGL settings to check if your video card/driver is the culprit.

      Gai...

I don't think it's the hardware (?)--Q9450, 4 GB RAM, Quadro FX 1700. I tried different (older) drivers on the video card, but that only made it worse!

What size grid are you using it on? If it is very large (in terms of the number of points) then it will be slow on most computers because of SUs lack of multi core support.

If this is the case then using a smaller grid (larger grid spacing, effectively) should do it.

I was using 1' squares--I will try bigger ones. The other weird thing is that when I activate the Smoove Tool on the grid, the yellow cubes appear in many other places on the drawing!

Also, I'm not sure to erase the sandbox grid once I apply it, if I want to change the size, etc.
