What format are the texture images? Might be that they are of a format which SU supports, but V-Ray doesn't.

    Also try in LightUp...

tried in Lightup... no artifact appeared, but I suppose Lightup dont really uses HDRI images... I mean... it works the same for .HDR or .JPG images!

    Great results! Congratulagion

thnx mate, coming from you guys this means a lot, to a newbie to vray like me.....
oh and andeciuala, can you give me/us a tut on how you achieved that wonderful glass material, and also your studio setup, cause i have a real problem with studio setups.

    thnx mate.

    @40th said:

    Very nice 21D.
For the glass material you should uncheck the "Reflect on Backside". Also increase the "max depth" to 5 (the default is 2) under Global Switches. Oh and lift the glasses just a bit, even 1 mm is enough.

Your scene setup is very good btw. πŸ‘

thnx mate, same goes to you, really appreciate your comment.
I'm gonna try those tweaks asap.... I'll post my result in the GALLERY topic,
oh that is also the reason for my late reply, because i thought everyone moved to the topic in the gallery section.

    but see ya guys later.

and thnx again for all your comments and tips.

Solo; just read thsi in the Vue manual:

    @unknownuser said:

    Panoramic View
Real panoramic cameras are fixed to a handle that you have to hold when you take the shot. As it
takes the shot, the camera rotates around the handle, thus embracing any required angle of view.
Panoramic views can yield beautiful results.
This option is a numerical equivalent to the real panoramic camera. Here also, the camera is rotated
as the render engine makes progress. All-around panoramas can be achieved this way, but
beware: if the camera is not perfectly horizontal when you take the shot, the horizon will undulate.
This is not a numerical artifact: it happens also in the real world!
When you select this option, the panoramic
H Angle slider becomes available, letting
you decide on the horizontal angle swept by
    the camera as it rotates.

This appear to be what happened to your VUE environments.

Thanks Thomthom, a new trick, however it makes all shadow areas very blotchy.

    Screenshot?

That property is quite important to be set to 0.85. Damien had some techinal reason for why this spesific value and why it should never be 1. Don't have the link right now though.
In SR1.5 it should be set to that by default.

Then it sounds like you have the original V-Ray for Sketchup. There's an update available over at ASGVis for download.

Though I gotto say, I'm not quite sure what the purpose of the VRayDoubleSided and VRaySkpDoubleSided materials are. They don't seem to offer much from regular material. Except one of them which has the colour filter which makes the backside texture transparent so you see the frontside texture. ...can't say I see the immediate use of it...

Thanks Thomas. This is the kind of thing I like to find out, like whether or not I need to invest time in learning how to use it or not or.

    oooh! tough choice.

I too would love to get Vray, I've played with two trials and love it. However a trip to NYC in the Spring is something special.

Take the trip, it's what memories are made of, you can always wait for the next Vray version in the future.

That's what I'm thinking as well. The US currency vs Norwegian is pretty high now anyway, so if I can find a discount later when the currency excahnge is lower I still get a good deal.
It'll be NY if I can get the time of work. If I can't, well... ...then it's rendering time...

I'm rendering with Vray for sketchup and I've got a background with overall cloudy sky. Right now, the background doesn't really look right with the amount of light comming in the building. I need to know how to diffuse the shadow and make the whole look more realistic. SO the light shinning on the floor as to be less direct and more diffuse like on cloudy days 😎

If you use an HDRI for your lighting you'll most likely get a very diffuse shadow.
An alternative is to change the V-Ray Sun Size, try something like 10-20.

Pete, thats a very god start. If you want your verticals to go perpendicular to the horizon, you need to adjust the len shift value in the physical camera. When I was using VfSU, I would start with about 0.1 for a shot from ground eye-level. Quickest way to get this right is to tick the material override and reduce the render output size whilst you test out which lens shift value gets your verticals upright.
