    Hi,
I had the same problem - on some surfaces in one SketchUp model the scaling of texture (in Materials Tray - Edit - setting different size of texture) was working, on some not (it was the same type of surfaces - wall). In SketchUp the size of texture was changing, but in the Vray render not. I don't know why but it helped to reverse the problematic faces and add the material with the texture again. Then it worked. πŸ˜„
If someone have the same problem, I hope this will also help him. πŸ˜„

Make sure you have the Sketchup sun on and make sure all your light have shadows enabled. Can you post a screenshot for us to look at? Either that or post the file and I can take a look at it.

at asgvis.com there are many .visop (render options) and .vismat (vray materials) and download all of them, try to download the vray manual (pdf) and vray manual scenes (skp files to practices).... it is easy and funny! 😎

How do u make "sun size" increase? Does anyone have jpg or other image (ptcs) format sample of set up settings for proper exterior shadows scene? I would appreciate the same for interior scene also...THNX

You change the sun size from the Sky map in the GI Environment setting.

download a material studio at asgvis.com to view the material... or in sk go to the material editor or texture editor and preview the material... how to link? well create a new material by importing a new material and find the place u have in the computer! try that πŸ‘

    Thanks Lewis,

Though I can't believe they've not fixed the "disappearing groups", "incorrect environment from SU shadow settings" and "VRay materials getting 'stuck' to SU geometry even though the material's been changed in SU" bugs. They're pretty damn serious- the disappearing groups and shadows ones are bad enough to put demo users off. Sure they all have workarounds, but they should have been picked up early in the beta stage IMO.

Oh well, it's still one of the best and definitely the fastest renderer out there and a very stable prog (Vue d'Esprit users will know how novel the latter concept is!).

    Guys,
    I have the same problem.

I can't understand how I can use .vismat files.

I explain my steps and my problem:

i built a wall i downloaded a material from the site called "brick-wall_red" ( a .zip file where there are 2 .png files and 1 .vismat file.) i create a new material in sketchup meterial editor using one of these .png (one of these shows the red brick and the other grey brick and i chose the first one). so from the zipped folder i choose one.png file. i set everything in terms of scale and proportion and it is fine.the name of the new material is "brick red" right click and i linked the material in vray. now in vray editor i have "linked_brick red" now on in bump i link the other .png
    8.i have the material "brick-wall_red"

i don't think it is the best way.
    it is too weird.

I have read also that when you link the material in vray material editor (my step 6) then right click on the linked material, "import" and there you can put the .vismat file.
I have tried but I see everything grey.

    any idea to help me??

    thank you very much.

    stef.
