Make it a component and save it to a component collection, then select and place it from the component panel whenever you need it.

Hey guys I am desperate for very high resolution/quality satellite maps, I use Placemaker and I also use Nearmap but the resolution is not that great, I have tried using AI to upscale but that too does not really solve my issues. Is there another solution?

@unknownuser said: Really nice Teezer. Could you show the mesh? Pretty simple, really. Just a repeating component: [image: xfL0_UpholsteryComponent.jpg] Here's the .skp if you'd like to fuss with it: UpholsteryComponent.skp

Some renderers will benefit from GPUs, but most are CPU based, among them V-Ray.

@wo3dan said: Thomas, Couldn't you simply create your arc(s) tangent to the "parent" edges, adjust their radii and finally move to the intersection/vertex. It's just one step extra, the move operation. See attached file. Yea I could do that. I do all sorts of 'tricks' to draw the arches correct. I just hoped there might be a secret SU thing, a 'Duh!' thing which I might have missed.

If you keep your model far from the SU origin, you will always suffer from clipping (and this "jitter" syndrome Thom mentioned). The same even if you move your stuff closer to the origin but leave any tiny bit of geometry "out there". A solution could be (I'm just "thinking loud" now as I'm too lazy to try out) to select all in your original SU file (with the origin away in the distance) make a component of the whole model Save (this component) as... (Context menu) open the component as a "normal" SU model (note that the origin will be close; where the origin of the component was placed) do all the modelling work if you wish, "Reload" this model/component into the original file. Certainly a couple of steps to do but it shouldn't be more than a minute and you waste much more time with suffering this way.

Thanks for your recommendations. It might be best to hold off until the E+ is fully developed. I'll be following it. In the mean time I'll probably stick with the code recognized tools that don't involve SketchUp. Thanks again, Mark

The problem is that V-Ray only recognizes the geometry as it is in the very first scene. Hidden geometry, layer visibility, and Face-Me component's direction in the following scenes are ignored. The animation is basically limited to camera position. Check out the ASGVis forum for more info on V-Ray animation. I've never really given it a go. You might find some useful info there.

@ecuadorian said: ...I remembered that this script calls "pages" what we now call "scenes". As I'm new to SketchUp, I don't know why... Before SU 6, scenes used to be called pages in SU. I guess the expression remained in the ruby language since it would create incompatibilities otherwise. The same is for construction line / guide line (and you can still find a bunch or plugins mentioning construction geometry).

It MUST be a scam since Google doesn't allow you to "resell" your license even if you are bored ith the program and don't want to use it any longer.

Yes, for some clients interactive 3D is like a dark art or something like that, they're just amazed when they see something orbiting.

@thomthom said: I used the same method of a recent product design project. Lots of rounded edges. (and mine included an DVI plug, as oppose to your USB ) Though I for some reason found myself making the x100 version and then make an instance that was x0.001 smaller. I did that because it seemed that I still had problems creating the small faces, even though the instance was scaled up x100, which is why I scaled the definition instead. But maybe it was another problem... Leave the original on desired dimension and scale just the working-with instance. Use 10x 100x 1000x. The point is to have lines big enough to can create faces. If you round an edge with r=1mm and use 6 segments for 1/4circle arc, you will have each segment smaller than 0,3mm ! In this case 10x is ok. But are lots of situations when durring intersection you can't get faces because the distance between two lines is too small. In this case you will need 100x-1000x scalling. I used up to 1.000.000x scalling Don't be shy to scale... it's free!

A free workaround would be to take the model containing the scenes you got, save a copy of it, delete everything, then import your other model and position its origin to match.

Definitely try to play around the OpenGL settings under Window (SketchUp on Mac) > Preferences. This sounds to be a video card/driver issue and I suspect that turning off hardware acceleration would prove it.
