@Rich-O-Brien Thanks Rich. Now I know that I can share the link with Fredo6 on the Animator thread so he can download the file and look at it (to hopefully identify the problem I have been having trying to generate a video). You might also try generating an Animator video and see what results you get.

Hey guys I am desperate for very high resolution/quality satellite maps, I use Placemaker and I also use Nearmap but the resolution is not that great, I have tried using AI to upscale but that too does not really solve my issues. Is there another solution?

Hey Mike, I'm sure you figured this out already, but when you first create the attribute type a number with the inch mark like 0" or 0' in the value box and hit enter. This will set the unit for that attribute to inches. This only works for the first time a value is entered. After that first initial value, you will need to use the attribute info dialog to make changes. In addition, you can use 0 to set it to text (not "Default: Text") and 0cm to set it to centimeters. If anyone knows a shortcut for setting the unit to Decimal Number, I would love to hear it!

i may be a bit late to the conversation, but I use both the small version (at home) & the pro version (at work). They work great, but use them a lot more when Im in 3ds max, or when I need to get really close on my model in SU and the mouse just isnt cutting it. I honestly dont use many of the shortcut buttons on the pro version so if your on a budget, the $99 one will do just fine. Hope that helps

Pilou often links from that Kitto Raup and that guy has some very good video tutorials mostly made with the native tools that we often neglect nowadays as we are overwhelmed and spoiled by those plugins. (Similarly, Jean Lemire often posts simple solutions achievable with the native tools instead of suggesting some "easy looking" way with plugins).

Actually your roof.rb is a good starting point for an editable rafter tails addition, where the editable rafter tail components only extend from the exterior building envelope to the width of the roof overhang. Is spring in the air yet?

On a reversed face, projected textures are usually positioned mirrored.

Magnificent model of ancient Inca city, and cheers for dedicated effort to create it! Having hiked there in '83, your model exposes much more than what we could see at that time. The mountainous terrain is so much a part of Macchu Picchu that it really adds to the SU complexity and challenge.

I am also having this problem in both Sketchup 7 and 8. I can still go to the 3D warehouse but can't figure out how to download a component into my model. When I download it opens it in a new template. It takes so much more time without the use of the components window, what is going on??

@massimo said: Hi Jim, so you want to get rid of the hidden geometry? If so go to "view" in the menu and untick "hidden geometry". Bear in mind that SU works with planar faces so you'll always have edges (hidden or visible) even in a "curved" surface. Ahh!!...Thank You Very Much. I was only familiar with the hatch patterns that display on hidden components. . . I didn't realize that view option had this effect on curves (when turned on). I was convinced I had a stubborn edge on my hands. Thanks again, Jim

If you happen to think about it please post back if/when you create it as I don't follow the plugins section as much as I should sometimes and would hate to miss it. -Brodie

GoldenSim is apparently quite upset that I referred to the stolen Caddy as "my" Caddy. And technically, he's right. I did modify his original model for a contest that he was holding (see Topic http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?f=333&t=38739). So I just wanted to set the matter right. The model stolen was in fact my heavily modified/corrected version of his original basic model.

Thanks, but for my specific problem that would only be a partial solution. It would do the spiral portion OK, but my bearings do a loop back through a specific path, that your solution could not handle. It would require a secondary operation to place bearings on that loopback path, and while not a difficult job, the "String Comps" Ruby did it all in a single step, not counting the path definition step I would need to do for both, if only partially for your solution.

Hi Hellnbak, hi folks. Your path is not coplanar. This is why the face twist when following the path. Just ideas.
