      Hi

I would like to project a texture on a complex object from a camera as a projector would do.

I've tried projected texture from a plane but I don't get the correct effect. The textures don't distort like they would in reality..

Has anyone dealt with this in SU?

      Thanks

Project photo interface does project an image exactly as a projector would (distort the image onto the 3d object) do. The problem may be hiding in several places (bad camera alignment, bad 3d object geometry, ...). More detailed info on your case might help finding the root cause.

          Hi Ogan,

I have a clean component with multiple angled faces.
I create a plane where my point of view is.
I apply on that plane the texture i want to project.
I make sure its a projected and unique texture
I apply this texture to my object.

Result: it applies the texture randomly on the faces
          but not distorting it..

          Thanks for your help..

I think you are trying to set the texture to the component. Try setting the texture from inside the component. That is; enter the component by double (left) clicking on it and select everything and then set the texture. That should do it.
            good luck

That's it. You cannot project a material on a group/component but only on simple faces. When you enter the editing context of the component (and the original face you applied the material fades out) you can still sample the projected material from it and apply on the faces inside the component. If there are lower level, nested components, of course, you need to enter them, too.

                Hi
                Thanks it's working now.
But not because of the component.
My plane 'projector' was textured on the wrong face.
the texture has to be facing the object you're projecting on
                to work properly..

On a reversed face, projected textures are usually positioned mirrored.
