Hey guys I am desperate for very high resolution/quality satellite maps, I use Placemaker and I also use Nearmap but the resolution is not that great, I have tried using AI to upscale but that too does not really solve my issues. Is there another solution?

Hey Mike, I'm sure you figured this out already, but when you first create the attribute type a number with the inch mark like 0" or 0' in the value box and hit enter. This will set the unit for that attribute to inches. This only works for the first time a value is entered. After that first initial value, you will need to use the attribute info dialog to make changes. In addition, you can use 0 to set it to text (not "Default: Text") and 0cm to set it to centimeters. If anyone knows a shortcut for setting the unit to Decimal Number, I would love to hear it!

@dave r said: Assuming you've applied the material image to the face and not to a component or group, you can adjust the position of the material as well as its orientation. Right click on the face and choose Texture>Position. You'll get some push pins that can be adjusted or you can click on the material and drag the image around to determine where the edges fall. You might have a look at this for some ideas. In the case of your texture image, the lighting isn't even so you'll still have the fade from light to dark repeating up the wall. Excellent, thanks for that. You guys never disappoint 'You never stop learning'

Make the common room shell Copy it twice Make one into the existing Make one into the proposed Group/Component each one Put each one on a separate layer COPY each so that they are on top of each other. Set up camera views/anims of/within the overlapped models and save the scene(s) as CAMERA ONLY SWITCH OFF the Proposed layer Export the scene(s) SWITCH ON the Proposed and OFF the Existing Export the scene(s) By making a copy of the existing and proposed component'd rooms you can continue to build/modify them and the overlapping ones will update accordingly. I do this all the time. Another way of using this method is to make all the individual component'd floors of a building and its roof, have them layed out NEXT to each other for ease of working on them but to ALSO have a copy of each stacked on top of each other as the building will appear. [image: kSAH_xx.jpg] As you can see I have Ground, First, Second, Third and roof all neatly layed out 40m apart co i can easily copy stuff between floors (Kitchens, furniture etc) but I also have them stacked for generating sections, testing service runs etc.

"That second tool is insane" If that got implemented in Sketchup, it would take all the "fun" out of building a model.

I don't understand what you are describing regarding your your track getting "dis-membered" but I guess you figured it out. You're welcome for the help. That's what the forum is for.

Usually that box is ticked automatically but be aware that if the geometry you've selected is connected to geometry that is not selected, that box will not be ticked. If you go ahead and make the component, it'll be in the In Model library but not in the model space. Most of the time you;ll select all attached geometry and make a component with the expectation that the selection will be replaced with the component and you don't need to do anything special.

I would make the section of track and rail a component. This gives you the opportunity to save it a library for future use and it will help to keep file size down. You could make similar components for other sections of track to make building more track easier. You might also find it useful to adjust the location of the component's axes to make inserting components from the library easier. I used Marian's track component as an example. If you grab a copy of it from the In Model component library, you find you can drop it exactly in line with the track already laid down. track.skp

If you are working over a [slow] network or perhaps on a memory-stick etc the time-out in the saves can dump a SKB in an alternative location - like ../Plugins/... When a SKB is made there's some file shuffling with the names and file-types so a temp name is used. Hence the odd names like '2.skb'...

Thank you Dave, that is really good advice. This is somewhat similar to Creator, but a little different in the means of making the group and sub group. Your advice is very good. I have been doing most of this, but I didn't know I could wrap it all together to make the nested version. Thanks again...
