You can use Selection Toys to select faces of the same orientation. I use that often for such task you describe.

I had this problem. What I did is grouped the area of the mesh I wanted draped on, detached it from the rest of the mesh, draped, then attached it again.

For stills I use Gadwin Print Scrreen I do not know about the other apps mentioned above but it's important to have a delay function as it can be used with all the modifier keys for SU.

For 3d Carving, I am using the following process: SketchUp Pro ---> (export as IGES using IGES plugin) ---> MasterCam. --> Thermwood CNC For 2d Cutting with drawing based control of cutting depths and tool use: SketchUp Pro --> (export dxf) ---> Thermwood CNC Thermwood CNC's can accept DXF drawings where the drawing layer tells the G-code generator what to do. I wrote a Sketchup guide for my specific Thermwood CNC. Once you sort out your face orientation you may find TIG's Section Cut Face plug works as expected. The only edit I usually need to apply is to delete unwanted faces which obscure the room, all my other voids close as expected.

Don't worry - Jim has encrypted it as an rbs anyway, making changing it academic - you can't. If you were to PM Jim perhaps he'll explain these things better ?

I have win Update set to manual and may have updated something like a Defender file late last night, but nothing major. GOOD NEWS - removing LIBFREDO6_Dir_47 has stopped the crashing. I had already tried removing TT stuff (started there because of the .dll objections posed by Online Armour, not because of any doubts about TT, or Fredo, both of whom I hold in awe for their excellent plugins) and was working my way through when I saw this post. Thank you, again <edit> SU 8.0.16846 Checked update logs ... updated Defender definition KB915597 2days ago (22 Mar) but didn't restart from off until this morning, Next most recent Cumulative security updates KB2809289 and KB2807986 (as mentioned by OP) plus a number of others (Silverlight, MSRT, defimition updates etc.) on 14-Mar but I have restarted numerous times since & using SU each session. </edit>

Interesting...I unistalled Lumen RT 3 and updated to Lumen RT 4 which was just released today and I still get the same behavior. This is the only SU plugin I have installed at the moment. Maybe it is something unique to my configuration. I'll check over on e-on's forums when I have the chance to see if anyone else is experiencing this.

Thanks Nigel, I thought this thread was dying a slow death.... I don't use ACAD myself but do import / export to it, hence the question. I have used '.' [fullstop] in SU layers but don't know how it exports. Maybe a test export with many punctuation marks should yield an answer...

There was a lot of buzz about it back when it was in beta. It looked like a nice renderer but the price tag is just too steep for many.

windows 7 ult.. thanks.. will try I hoped I fixed the system to never have to run as admin.. took ownership of everything.. turned off UAC, unhid sys files.. etc but will give it a shot did not work.. will not install I did find an older version 8.03something that does work or I'd have nothing
