Crash with drape tool
-
Could some of you do me a favour and try the attached file with the drape command? I'm trying to drape the 2d plan on to the terrain which is created from Simuterra. I get a crash every time. I'd be interested if others also get it to crash.

Hi Kenny, we've fixed a crash with the drape tool in the latest maintenance release of SketchUp.
What platform and version of SketchUp are you using?
Thanks,

Do you get an actual crash, or does sketchup just sit there and act like its not doing anything? one thing I have found, is that when trying some large memory operation, sketchup (and it might be a windows thing) will act like it has frozen, will even say "Not Responding"; but if you leave it alone, it is actually just working through whatever it is you told it to.
On a completely different note-
Hey CraigD, is that a TZ you're riding?crojack

Ok, I played around with it a bunch and found that it was the large grass portion and the driveway/street portion that seem to be splatting SU.
But, then I deleted the Simuterra terrain and replaced it with one of my own. The whole thing draped quite nicely. So it appears that it is actually a problem with the simuterra terrain. I reported about 6 detailed bugplats about what I was doing when it crashed. I also gave them a link to this thread. Hopefully it will help them somehow.

Chris, and Kenny (and all) it's very important to include what version of SketchUp you're using.
We've made a few fixes in the latest version 6.0.1145 Mac and 6.0.1099 Windows so I'm interested to know if these crashes are occurring in the latest.
Please let me know.
Thanks,
- CraigD
P.S. Crojack, I race a '98 Honda RS125...she wins me races too!;)

Craig, I'm using the latest windows XP 6.0.1099. I've also emailed the file to technical support to look at. Thanks everybody for looking at this.

Hi Kenny, I'm seeing the problem too. I'll look into it.
Thank you for supplying me with the model! We'll get right on this, and if we figure out some workarounds, I'll post a reply here.
Thanks,

I had this problem. What I did is grouped the area of the mesh I wanted draped on, detached it from the rest of the mesh, draped, then attached it again.
