      Game over for updates?
      Bisengi perhaps.

Perhaps we do not need the latest Trimble Sketchup Pro to do our work.
I was checking an SU file from a past project.
This was a pretty complex building and full of cars, 3d people and entourage.
      Surprise.
      Built with SU 7.1 PRO.
Just for fun I checked to see if my favorite plugins of that time would still work.
Tested on SU 8 Pro and everything still worked and no upgrade to SU 2019 Pro would do any better.
For those who do not want to upgrade to finally a subscription mode perhaps it is time to just use the version that will still support the treasure trove of plugins so freely given and settle on the most unprotected version (PRO) you have a download and license for.
For me SU 2018 is the stopping point.
I remember the golden days of @Last and ever Google when we had a personal connection with the development team and how good it was.
For Trimble to update the cost on Sketchup when so much of the real value is a result of all the free plugins and time spent by those who help Pro Bono is at best shameful.
Thank you all for the gifts of the plugins who have enriched the program and the kind and generous daily help by so many as best I can remember noted below.

Did you use legacy plugins (original version copies) or the latest? I was using 2016 and that was OK but then updating OS it stopped working well. Stuck with 2019 which is not as good as 2016 was.

Well they could do something to break most/all of the plug-ins and write equivalents for the core program. That would get people's attention. Doubtful it would generate any good will and whatever money it brought to subscriptions would end as soon as people learned a replacement program (out of spite).

The truth of the mater is the software business is hard. You can make big bucks at the start of a product life-cycle but as time goes on more and more people have every function they need and see no reason in particular to upgrade. The revenue stream dries up and thast's that.

For the most part I used the same plugins for my install of SC 2018 Pro.
The ones that needed to go back to an earlier were:
            LibFredo (v 6.0 worked)
            FredoTools (stll not set)
            S4u-Slice

            Hope this helps a bit.

              Update
FredoTools v1.7a seems to stay put at least for now

Getting hold of v8 might just be a problem. Nice idea though.

                    Hello all
                    FYI 👍 👍
The same plugin set that I used for the SU 8 pro also worked in SU 2014 Pro and 2017 Pro
Big mistake for me to update (huh ?) to SU 2018 and chase my legacy by hand.
For scattered plugins out of the past that still work I load using tt_simple_installer_v1.2.0.rbz
(see in plugin store for download )
                    Thank you thomthom
Works from the SU Window menu for all plugin formats)from selected PC location.
